well you're getting a stud starter in return for basically a future A-/A- pitcher, a mentoring RP and a mid-late 1st. so in terms of value it's a pretty good offer. i don't really see that point from your end though. santana himself isn't enough to make you a contender as you're 16 games out of a wildcard with the season over half gone. i would have thought him more likely to offer santana to one of the teams in the AL wildcard cluster. i guess what it boils down to is this: do you think you can get more than that from one of the wildcard hopefuls for santana? if you can, take it. if not, don't. because there isn't much reason to add him to your own roster long-term.

The Boston pick will be at least top 4 in 1956, maybe even #1 overall. He has three 27 year old stars and one 31 year old. His other stars will either be declining or retired. His minor league system isn't prepared for the mass retirements. A star player dump is inevitable. That pick is valuable.Pages: 1
