I think you could accept this one and not feel bad in the least. However, you could counter with your own offer. This offer is a tough one for several reasons. One, pitching is at a premium in SD nowadays. Two, you'd be trading away a decent pitcher and you have some pitching holes. Three, the guy you're trading him to is in your division.

You'd be giving up a pretty old guy that is a great mentor (he wouldn't be a big loss though) and a decent looking pitching prospect. I bet the other Howner isn't assigning much value to Wyatt. He really wants Werts. Werts, being B-/B and 21, will likely be A-/A-, and maybe even better, when its all said and done (with 5 CPs), but it will take time and CPs. You aren't too bad off in the pitching department, although you do have a couple holes that need to be filled, so given the right offer you could move him if you wanted. You have to decide whether you think you can get great pitching elsewhere. Given your position in the standings, you should be able to pick up a decent pitcher in the draft.

He is giving you Barnhart and Shank. Shank is a decent player and will give you a needed batter. He'll be OS 29, so he will be around for while. Barnhart on the other hand, even though he is only 18, I am not too impressed with. His speed is high, which means he will likely have some wasted ICs when he maxes out on speed, and he doesn't look great in any other areas. He'll take even more CPs than Werts before he's ready to go.

Because pitching is at a premium I would counter with an offer of Werts and Wyatt for Shank and his 1st round pick in the upcoming draft.

This is not an easy one as is the case with other offers being reviewed here. I think intelligent minds could differ. I will leave you with one thought ... pitching is important in the league at this time and, unless you are really set in that department, I wouldn't part with any pitching lightly.

Regardless of what you do, and I wouldn't make this trade, you really have to straighten out your minors.

Holm has to be in the minors - he's 19 and will not improve in the majors, Pate and Silent Bob are marginal prospects - try and get some kids to utilize your CPs on. If you really believe Pate can become something then bring him up and play him every day, with A+ health he'll get 40+ chances over the course of the rest of the season and your CPs can be used on Holm.

Personally I'd ahve 5 each on Werts and Holm and 5 more on either Tolentino or Silent Bob - though I'm not crazy about either of them.
