Injuries, minors and improvement.

As we get down to the end of the season, I have a question about injuries and improvement. Firstly, how much does a long injury hurt a major league in improvement? If he misses 46 games does that really hurt him? Secondly, what happens to a player that plays all season in the majors but is injured or whatever and goes down to the minors for the last ten games? Does that mean he doesn't get any improvement on the major league level? What about a player that splits seasons? If he played half the games in the majors and went down and got coaching points in the minors, should he be brought back up to the major league team at the end to take advantage of any improvement there even if it is a small one? I think you get the drift of my concern. could you expound upon this stuff a little??;)

Doug,
Its all based on number of at bats or innings pitched during the season. If the player was injured during the year, or went up and down and up and finished the seasons in the minors, it really doesn't make a difference in the improvements.
