If they win and move to 7-5 they will be the only non-division-leader in the NFC with a winning record. That is appalling.

The Panthers play tonight in Philly. They're 6-5 after a devastating loss to the fucking Redskins, but are inexplicably three-point favorites--I guess that's a Donovan discount.If they win and move to 7-5 they will be the only non-division-leader in the NFC with a winning record. That is appalling.

the funny thing is there are more than 2x as meany winning records in the AFC as in the NFC. Wont it be hilarious if an NFC team wins the Super Bowl?

24/36 270 yards 2 TD 0 INT... Eli's numbers from yesterday. Yes, he's be inconsistent, but that's a bit of an overstatement. That team has a lot of problems, but Eli is not the only cause of them. Missing 6 defensive starters for a number of games doesn't help much, Plaxico Burress giving up on plays time after time, Jeremy Shockey being well... Jeremy Shockey, Coughlin's sideline meltdowns, etc... Eli's been mediocre but he's had some good games too and the Giants' failures are not solely his fault.
Now how about that other New York team?

Sean Payton will still be coach of the year, the turnaround he made of the franchise and what the Saints have done for the city cannot be overstated enough, although Mangini and Jeff Fisher also deserve strong consideration...

With who at quarterback? It's December. A hot September isn't going to carry Grossman much further.
You can win with a mediocre quarterback...see Trent Dilfer. But you can't totally suck there.

The Chefs (sic) continue to prove that no matter who the coach is, they can't win on the road in December, no matter how bad the opponent. That loss to Cleveland yesterday, coupled with earlier road losses to Pittsburgh, Miami, simply proves that they are nowhere close to a playoff caliber football team.

Agreed. If Grossman is even halfway competent, the Bears will always have a chance with their defense and speical teams. But if he continues to crap the bed and put up 1.3 passer ratings, the Bears don't have a prayer in January...

Actually,that "national title" was shared with Michigan, as I recall. Michigan won in the writers' poll and Nebraska won in the coaches' poll. Does that mean coaches are more emotional in their votes than the writers?

it means the coaches wanted to send the original TO out with a bang. Michigan was the hands down National CHamp. OFC I think that Peyton Manning was the hands down Heisman until Charles Woodson started running off at the mouth.

Since they were both undefeated, how can you say it was "hands down"? Nebraska in 1997 was not not exactly comparable to Boise State, or Brigham Young back in the 80's.
