Trade advice in the Mookie Wilson League

December 01, 2006 at 08:32PM View BBCode

I need your help with this trade offer. This is a Private or Speed League

I have been offered:
1954 Draft Pick Rd 1(KC)

I would give up:
1956 Draft Pick Rd 1(PIT)

My team is lacking in the pitching dept and I already traded my first rounder from this year away. This year's draft class has a good number of top pitchers. This pick could be as early as 4 or as late as 8 depending on how the rest of the season goes. The only thing is that if my team does not get any better over the next 2 years then I will have the first overall pick in the drft.
Thanks for the help.

Your team has enough youth that I would see you improving enough over the next two years that it's unlikely you're trading away the #1 pick. I'd peg you around the #3-#6 pick in two years assuming you continue getting good development on the youth.

As to whether this is a good deal or not... it really depends on the talent of the draft and what you're going to be able to get. If you can get someone "worth" a prospective #3-#6 pick because it's a good draft, I'd really consider this trade, but if the draft is light I'd definitely pass.

Looks like KC is giving up the number 7 this year. Are there 7 players worth something in this draft (usually yes) and then do you gamble that this player will be better than what you get in two years. Also you have to consider your CP situation.

OK I've looked at your minors and you're not really carrying any prospects at this point. You can even take on a long term prospect now and have a two year head start. I'd take the deal unless this draft class really sucks.
