:( The Haymakers showed the fearsome offense that finds them leading the Billy Hamilton A.L. Div.,by scoring eight runs in the third while chasing usually dependable Dave Hoskins. To the momentary delight of the young ladies in the crowd Mgr.Luv brought in the recenly obtained teen-age sensation Oswaldo Conlan. The kid entered with damage done and two on and was greeted by a Larry Langford blast into the cheap seats scoring two ahead of him. Conlan managed to escape with his life but in the fourth it rained extra base hits as doubles by Mike (Golden Greek) Hronpolus and Ian (Ironman) Anderson were but a prelude as "Teddy Ballgame" jumped on a full count hanging slider and sent a BB into right field stands. The dazed kid somehow survived until the sixth when relieved by wily Steve Gromick who managed to shut down the scoring the rest of the way in an outstanding case of shutting the barn door after the horse has been stolen.Although in over their heads against the Beantown maulers the young Spiders attmpted to fight bck with homers by (Mule) Garrido, sweet swinging Merl Combs, and young Cliff Reilley.Blinky Batchelder went all the way for the Hayslingers walking eight with 5 K's but the Boston offense and inept clutch hitting by the Spiders allowed him to hang on. If you like offense it was a thrill a minute.:PPages: 1
