Indians trade Eddie Perez to the Ms

For a minor leaguer. Haven't seen it reported on espn or sportsline yet...

Seattle Times must be asleep on the job, as I have seen nothing from them. Who's the minor leaguer, and what the hell do we want with Eddie Perez?

I get the Akron Beacon journal newsletter, and the feature writer mentioned it in his newsletter which came over about 20 minutes ago. He may have broken it before it was common knowledge, or maybe he is wrong. He didn't say who the minor league was.[Edited on 6-30-2006 by tysonlowery]

"The Indians traded Perez to Seattle on Friday for a minor leaguer, and Shapiro called up Ryan Garko from Buffalo, where he was hitting .255 with 11 HR and 49 RBI. He has developed into an adequate first baseman. I know his average is down, but Garko can hit. He batted .303 at Buffalo in 2005. He's a career .309 hitter in the minors."

Perez has been crushing left handed hitting for us in a platoon role, I can't see how he will fit in on the Ms roster unless they are planning on playing him in the OF, or maybe they are going to bench Everett?

I don't see us benching Everett. Maybe we're dissatisfied with Rene Rivera's job as backup catcher?
