Conveniently Forgotten Facts. Back in 1969 a group of Black Panthers decided that a fellow black panther named Alex Rackley needed to die.

Rackley was suspected of disloyalty. Rackley was first tied to a chair. Once safely immobilized, his friends tortured him for hours by, among other things, pouring boiling water on him. When they got tired of torturing Rackley, Black Panther member, Warren
Kimbo took Rackley outside and put a bullet in his head. Rackley's body was later found floating in a river about 25 miles north of New Haven, Connecticut.

Perhaps at this point you're curious as to what happened to these Black Panthers? In 1977, that's only eight years later, only one of the killers was still in jail. The shooter, Warren Kimbro, managed to get a scholarship to Harvard and became good friends with none other than Al Gore. He later became an assistant dean at an Eastern Connecticut State College. Isn't that something? As a '60s radical you can pump a bullet into someone's head and a few years later, in the same state, you can become an assistant college dean! Only in America!

Erica Huggins was the woman who served the Panthers by boiling the water for Mr. Rackley's torture. Some years later Ms. Huggins was elected to a California School Board.

How in the world do you think these killers got off so easy?

Maybe it was in some part due to the efforts of two people who came to the defense of the Panthers. These two people actually went so far as to shut down Yale University with demonstrations in defense of the accused Black Panthers during their trial. One of these people was none other than Bill Lan Lee.

Mr. Lee, or Mr. Lan Lee, as the case may be, isn't a college dean. He ! isn't a member of a California School Board. He is now head of the United States Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, appointed by none other than Bill Clinton.

O.K., so who was the other Panther defender? Is this other notable Panther defender now a school board member? Is this other Panther apologist now an assistant college dean? No, neither!

The other Panther defender was, like Lee, a radical law student at Yale University at the time. She is now known as The "smartest woman in the world." She is none other than the Democratic senator from the State of New York----our former First Lady, the incredible Hillary Rodham Clinton.

And now, as Paul Harvey said; "You know the rest of the story".

It must be ironic, because everyone knows that DeVeau is the love child of Jane Fonda and Timothy Leary...

I don't paint myself a bloody member of the DNC, but I am a left leaning moderate, considering my upbringing and current social status, which is precisely dick. Always interesting to find out new things, even if they are grotesque in origin.

Another interesting fact: The Emmitt Till case, which involved the torture of a young black man in a heavily segregated area of Mississippi (yes, I'm aware that it was all pretty bad back then, but this just goes to prove it's even worse in some parts), was re-opened early in 2004 at the request of lawmakers across the country. I just found it a creepy coicidence to realize that Hurricane Katrina blew through the state exactly 50 years after the night of the murder.

I didn't say that. And I don't have a profound hatred for right-wingers, Republicans, or whatever. There are just a lot of policies from the past 6 years I don't necessarily agree with, and as it stands, politically, the only thing I can offer is my vote in the 2008 election.

But hey, thanks for checking in DeVeau, your contributions are always worthwhile.

Anytime FG.

I don't care if it's true or false, it's a nice read and it will spawn into discussion. After all, isn't that what message boards are for?

I hate how American politics has declined into "Us vs. Them"

We need a charismatic, intelligent, moderate candidate to reunite this country.

Good God Deveau, what kind of thinking is that...making up facts to support your own viewpoint and then saying the truth doesnt matter... falling for a hoax and printing it as if were true is understandable.., you were tricked. your subsequent statement removes any credibility you may have..

To relate this to politics.., this seems to be the modus operendi of the right wingers now days...make up facts...if they are disproved or things dont work out....ignore the results or blame the media....

Oh and thanks for taking the time to fact check FG>>>

Not only is the story false, or at best misleading, even if it were 100% accurate the connection between the alleged murderers and Clinton is laughably tenuous. Even if she were, say, a lawyer defending these men in a courtroom, what does that have to do with her today, or her supposed position as 'the smartest woman in the world' (a terribly misogynous jab, Tom)? Posting this little snippet of clearly ridiculous propaganda is disappointing. If you want to 'spawn discussion', you could at least use your own words, check some facts, or provide something that has any relevance at all.

Since our friendly local fringe-left crackpot, HollywoodOz, doesn't post here anymore, I'll take it on myself to post the companion piece to the "Paul Harvey" piece above:

Brothers and Sisters, please read and pass along. We must remember this at the polls, and choose wisely. Whites-only covenant shows Bush's true colors.

Texas governor and Republican presidential candidate, George W. Bush recently sent waves through the Black community following a discovery that a Dallas house he sold in 1995 carries a racial covenant, which restricts the sale of the house to white people only. Bush and his wife, Laura, bought the house in 1988. How is this legal? It isn't.

The Fair Housing Act prevents the enforcement of racial covenants. However, many houses still carry them as a remnant of the Jim Crow era when it was common practice to exclude Blacks from buying houses and living in white neighborhoods. The Bush campaign responded with a online statement saying that the racial covenant was void and that Bush was unaware of it when he sold the house. Yeah right! It's extremely irresponsible for a public figure to accidentally overlook such a stipulation. Did Bush really know but just didn't care to do anything about it? The real estate agent who prepared the papers for the sale said that she notified Bush of the racial covenant but that he signed the papers anyway.

Perhaps equally shocking as the racial covenant is the fact that the media has swept this story under the rug.

Have you heard about it in any of the newspapers you read or on any of the news programs you watch?

Do you give Bush the benefit of the doubt?

Was he unaware of the racial covenant during the time he and his family lived in the house, or did he know and decide that it wasn't worth having?

Should HUD initiate a law that requires all homeowners to wipe racial covenants from their deeds?

* Did the media deliberately fail to cover this story?

* Do you think it would have been handled differently if a similar story was revealed about a Black candidate?

(And I'll add that everyone should spend at least some time at snopes.com, just about the best site on the internet for teaching a person about critical thinking and current issues)

It's already been covered, but this statement is a complete disaster. I'd given you just a little credit, until now. There is nothing worthwhile in spouting lies merely for the sake of being incendiary.

Incendiary is fine, but get it fucking right before you do it.
