Are we going to allow the trading of draft picks? With the new system of drafting, it is pretty easy to accomodate. The team involved tells you what to make the settings and whoever you draft in that round goes to them.July 12, 2003 at 08:04PM View BBCode
I don't see any reason to not allow people to trade draft picks.July 12, 2003 at 10:20PM View BBCode
I can think of several problems. (I have played in a lot of long term leagues - usually soccer) where drafts become a problem because of dropouts. It's too easy for someone to make weak trades and drop out and then his team will not recover for a long time because of it.July 12, 2003 at 11:53PM View BBCode
I strongly agree. No trades should include future considerations. For the exact reason just mentioned. Somebody can trade a bunch of draft picks, then drop out leaving a new owner to pay the piper.July 14, 2003 at 01:20AM View BBCode
I think trading draft picks are ok. Sure if someone drops out you most likely will not get your picks from them. You have to hope that who you are trading with has the integrity to do what they say they will and I hope we have a bunch of honest folks in our league. Last year in my other league I traded away draft picks and received draft picks in trades. I told the other owner how to set my settings for the draft and I set the settings for the picks that I owed other owners. In each case everything went well and all owners lived up to their agreement. If two owners agree to trade draft picks, I say let them do it and lets use the honor system in this league.Pages: 1
