A trade has been completed between the Kansas City River Cats and the Pittsburgh Caledonians. The Pittsburgh Caledonians receive Mike Oliva from the Kansas City River Cats in exchange for Dick Caraballo.

Faced with a very competitive pennant race and a health challenged pitching staff, I went out looking for an SP vet who could help me this season. Caraballo has a solid track record, including a Cy Young award in 2027. I'll take the chance that he still has some stuff. He will likely replace Chapman in the starting rotation while Livan takes up the spot starter/long relief role.
I'm giving up Oliva, who has potential, but hasn't put up encouraging stats. He did have 3 velocity improves last season, so he may be a late bloomer who will turn out to be a decent back of the rotation guy. It's a gamble for both KC and Pitt; it will be interesting to see how things turn out.

A trade has been completed between the St. Louis Red Birds and the Washington Conglomerate. The Washington Conglomerate receive Sherm Hunter, Draft Pick - 2031 Round 2 (STL) from the St. Louis Red Birds in exchange for Seymour Suggs..

STL just really needed another dependable arm in the bullpen while we try to make up some ground in the NL this season. Suggs has pitched well this season and despite his age and the short term rental he will be, he was cheaper than less talented guys on the market.

Van Driel and a 3rd round pick for Jolley, Jakes, and a 3rd round pick

A trade has been completed between the Philadelphia BullFrogs and the New York Bad Gnus. The New York Bad Gnus receive T.D. Jakes from the Philadelphia BullFrogs in exchange for Draft Pick - 2031 Round 3 (NYN).

A trade has been completed between the New York Bad Gnus and the Washington Conglomerate. The Washington Conglomerate receive Nick Van Driel from the New York Bad Gnus in exchange for Esteban Jolley, Draft Pick - 2031 Round 3 (WAS).

Once again, the NL pennant race is very competitive. In early July, faced with some key injuries, the Bad Gnus wasted little time accepting an offer from the BullFrogs that added a veteran bullpen pitcher in exchange for what will most likely be a late 3rd round draft pick.

In early August, the Conglomerate approached us seeking Nick Van Driel, a young infielder. We modified the original offer and agreed to Van Driel in exchange for Jolley and a Washington 3rd round pick. In Jolley, the Bad Gnus add a quality relief pitcher who should provide us with about five seasons of bullpen support. A couple of our relief pitchers are approaching their mid-thirties. Jolley should be able to provide the depth we need when they depart. Lately, Jolley has been underperforming. He simply has to pitch better over time. Our hope is that the change in scenery will spark a turn-around.

In total, the Bad Gnus trade Van Driel for Jolley, Jakes, and an improved position in the upcoming amateur draft. Hopefully these moves will enable us to advance to the playoffs while strengthening our future teams.

"A trade has been completed between the St. Louis Red Birds and the Washington Conglomerate. The Washington Conglomerate receive Sherm Hunter, Draft Pick - 2031 Round 2 (STL) from the St. Louis Red Birds in exchange for Seymour Suggs.."

Suggs was having another very good year, but it wasn't doing much good for Washington, so we shipped him for a second in hopes it is a deep draft.

A trade has been completed between the New York Bad Gnus and the Washington Conglomerate. The Washington Conglomerate receive Nick Van Driel from the New York Bad Gnus in exchange for Esteban Jolley, Draft Pick - 2031 Round 3 (WAS).

At the beginning of the year I was hoping to win a few more games, but when the losses started piling up, there was no reason to keep older players. Jolley was traded for at the beginning of the year to provide veteran support as a former fireman of the year. Van Driel will compete for playing time at multiple positions, using him as a super utility player. Next year, based on other moves and improves, may find a starting spot somewhere in the lineup.

Good luck to both teams, and former Conglomerate pitchers on their playoff runs.

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Montreal Expats. The Montreal Expats receive Mike Fitzberger from the Boston Pops in exchange for Jim Kennedy.

8/30/30

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Cincinnati Cobras. The Cincinnati Cobras receive Eric Easler, Luis Johnson from the Boston Pops in exchange for Jim Filer.

On the surface these might seem like odd deals for the Pops (given that we are in rebuild mode) - and they might end up turning out to be "bad deals" for me. But my logic was that I expect my young team to be much better next season (I'll need some help from ABE in the Improves department)...I've got 13 players who are OS26 or younger who've gotten significant playing time this year (6 pitchers, 1 catcher, 4 infielders and 2 OF'ers) - one (Crouch) who is also leading the ROY race.

So by adding a potential staff ace in Flier and a solid backup OF'er (and A mentor) in Kennedy I am HOPING to bolster my lineup for a potential playoff run next season (and in the next few seasons). I'll evaluate the merits of this deal next season.

A trade has been completed between the Kansas City River Cats and the Cincinnati Cobras. The Cincinnati Cobras receive Carlton Davis from the Kansas City River Cats in exchange for Chet Peel.

The River Cats are committed to going all the way this season. Peel gives me a quality veteran arm for the push to the playoffs. Cinci gets quality in return: Davis is a fine young OF/1B who needs major league playing team to blossom. I probably overpaid on this one, but my guys are getting old and this may be my last hurrah for awhile.

You got a starting pitcher having a Cy Young calibre year in return for an OS27 year old OFer who couldn't crack your major league roster, I can't see this as an over pay.

Cinci gets a youngish player who should post good numbers against RHP and you get a stud SP while in the middle of a very tight AL race.

I see win/win.

Trivisano for a 3rd Round Pick

A trade has been completed between the Cleveland Buckeyes and the Washington Conglomerate. The Washington Conglomerate receive Ted Trivisano from the Cleveland Buckeyes in exchange for Draft Pick - 2032 Round 3 (WAS).

I have no soul, or conscience, Ted Trivisano is less than three years removed from an MVP award and I kicked him to the curb for a 3rd round pick. I should be ashamed of myself but I'm not.

This team is not a powerhouse like the 2011-2018 dynasty and I can't have any loyalty if I want the rebuild to be less painful. I have a bunch of just declined players with high leadership scores and I don't need them all. Washington came asking about Salem but I thought Trivisano offered them a low cost alternative so the deal was done.

A 3rd round pick isn't much but a 35 year old B+ player just isn't going to get many at bats on this edition of the Buckeyes so better some return than none.

I wish Trivisano the best of luck in Washington, he's a good player and hopefully I'll get something useful with the pick.

Hi Guys - when a trade is being complained about or protested, you shouldn't post in this thread. I'm going to move some of your comments to the protest thread.

Thanks,
Tyson

There should be a way during the trade protest/complaint (whichever this is) that players are sure to see someone's remarks about a trade before they vote on whether they think its fair or not. Its tough to state your case when your comments are being deleted. Just seems a little "Guilty until proven innocent" to me. Not complaining about it, just something for the future of SimD.

The comments weren't deleted. They were relocated. There is a process in place for trade protests. The process works best when everyone just does what they are supposed to do and a) thoroughly reads the initial post from Admin that notifies the league that a trade is being protested and b) follows the links provided by Admin in the voting window to research the deal entirely before making a decision.

Well, Ollom is a high control pitcher at OS 34. He led the league in WHIP last season and has pitched like an ACE for the past 2 1/2 years, when healthy. I was hoping to get a 1st or similar value for him and DET was the first to offer it, so I took it. I guess I'm "rebuilding" now.

I paid for top dollar for Wilcox to help out the club at the top end of the rotation. STL is hurting for control pitchers at the big league level and desperate times call for desperate measures....

I feel like Kustus is going to be a beast for Hammy but I had hitting to deal and trading any 17 year old starting pitcher with A+ endurance is tough but we are in a position to compete for a long time once a couple of the kids in the minors finish their last year of developing on the hill.

This one was really simple: he paid my requested price. I wanted to get 3 pieces for Wilcox and I had multiple offers for less than that which I turned down. I was about to take an offer from another team when Stros sent this offer over.

Menke - might take a long time to develop, but he should be a fantastic SP for a long time

Kustus - he's a solid hitter and will get major league AB's as soon as I move some of my hitters

1st rounder - I'm hoping to get lucky here

Filer & Lynch for Prospects, a 1st Round Pick, and Veterans

4/28/2031

A trade has been completed between the New York Bad Gnus and the Boston Pops. The Boston Pops receive Bob Arroyo, Al Maddox, Tom Linton, Scott Werden, Draft Pick - 2032 Round 1 (NYN) from the New York Bad Gnus in exchange for Bob Lynch, Jim Filer.

This exchange resulted from a severe injury to the starting New York catcher, an injury that left us very thin in talent at this position. The Pops presented an initial offer of Lynch for a prospect, an offer the Bad Gnus were reluctant to accept. We countered by substituting a different prospect, but then, knowing that Filer was available, presented an expanded offer, an exchange that the Pops quickly accepted.

In Lynch, the Bad Gnus obtain a veteran catcher with an A+ arm and A+ health who should perform effectively, especially against RHP. Filer adds depth and talent to an already strong starting staff. We now have six SP who are pitching well; however, a team never can have too much good starting pitching. In addition, when Filer pitched for the Cobras he always seemed to be difficult for us to beat. He was on the block. We would rather have him pitching in a Bad Gnus uniform than in the uniform of a rival.

The Pops receive Werden, a young RP who has been improving at a rapid rate. He should develop into an excellent reliever. Linton is a young SS who also has red letter potential. He may end up playing another position, but shortstops learn fast. The 1st round pick also could net the Pops a youngster with excellent potential.

Clearly, Arroyo and Maddox were included to give the Pops an opportunity to use them if they can add some value.

It total, the trade should prove to be a win-win exchange.

As Tim noted, I get some nice young talent in Werden and Linton (and one never knows how those first round picks will turn out - even if it's a playoff pick). I clearly over estimated how my team would perform this year. I made a move for Filer late last year thinking I would be competitive and he would be my staff ace. But a sub-.500 team just is no place for a potential veteran staff ace like Filer. So I quickly went from being a possible buyer to an aggressive seller. I had several offers (and was spurned on a few as well) and Tim's was the best. As with Filer I really had no need for Lynch, who is a very capable catcher. Never mistaken for an All Star, he fits very nicely into the Gnus roster.

So Tim strenghtens his team immediately and I get a little more gas into the Farm System tank for my now extended rebuild.

I'm very comfortable with this deal and also see it as a win-win for both teams.

There are currently 9 A rated SP's in the league and only two of them are younger than Reacher. This gives us two SP's that are roughly the same age that will throw 500 innings a year. With the hitters we have, I felt paying to dollar for a top notch pitcher was worth it to hopefully help jump start a post season run that can last.

Well we can't accuse St. Louis of sitting on their hands, the ink was barely dry on my "Tossing in the Towel" post when stros contacted me about Reacher.

I gave him some parameters and he came back with an offer that I accepted. I was on the fence about dealing Reacher but I didn't think I would ever get more than this offer so I figured I'd burn the bridge and move into rebuild.

I don't have to comment on what St. Louis gets in Reacher, an A rated SP, one of only nine in the league, who is only OS29. Paired with Burkart he will give St. Louis a truly awesome 1-2 punch at the top of their rotation. It was a bold stroke by a team that obviously feels their time is now.

In return I get a solid, not spectacular, SP prospect in Mallery, who I hope can make B+/A+, a top OF prospect in Halley and a mediocre prospect in Jones. I also receive a pair of playoff 1st round picks to help restock a minor league system that has gotten awfully thin.

If either Mallery or Halley pan out then I'm good on this deal, if neither do then I'm not but it's done and now it's time to sell off some more parts.

Bailey for Pike(Berne) and a 1st round pick

A trade has been completed between the Cleveland Buckeyes and the Kansas City River Cats. The Kansas City River Cats receive Will Bailey from the Cleveland Buckeyes in exchange for Joe Pike, Draft Pick - 2033 Round 1 (KC).

Well the bridge is really burnt now. Just one week after dealing off my ace I move the best catcher in the league and don't even get a major league body to replace him.

I made some offers involving Bailey but perhaps I shot too high so I made a pitch to KC for a 1st round pick and a very, very good pitching prospect and the deal was done. In Pike I get a starting pitcher who has a very good chance to make A overall and is only 21 years old, plus I add another 1st round pick giving me two in each of the next three seasons so I should be able to reload the minors in a hurry.

In Bailey I give up the best catcher in the league but I'm not winning soon and I have Sills to take over behind the plate and Faith just a couple of years away. I also get a chance to see if Ray Vargas is major league ready.

For KC the motivation is pretty simple, they are contending and they get to add the best catcher in the game without taking anyone out of their lineup, it should be a win/win but it'll be a while before Cleveland wins in this deal.

A trade has been completed between the Philadelphia BullFrogs and the Kansas City River Cats. The Kansas City River Cats receive Johnny " Full " Moon from the Philadelphia BullFrogs in exchange for Kaz Yamada, Pino Coscara, Draft Pick - 2032 Round 1 (KC).

The River Cats were extremely disappointed with their 3rd place finish last season. It could be explained away by pointing to injuries, but winning teams had injuries as well. River Cats management decided the team needed more pitching depth and more hitting depth if it is to win this season. And we do want to win.
The acquisition of Bailey gave me not only hitting depth, but the best catcher in the league. TR did a fine analysis of this trade, and I agree with it completely.
The acquisition of Moon gives me not only pitching depth, but one of the few A rated pitchers in the league. OS31, Moon should be my staff ace for the next 4 seasons at least, maybe 5 or 6. He is definitely worth 3 pieces, so I was happy to pay what Philly asked. I think Philly only got 2 1/2 pieces, but Coscara may turn out to be a gem and become the full 3rd piece after all.

I am happy with both trades, and I think both were win/win.
