Basically the Conglomerate needed to get a good A+ SP mentor, to go with the young guys that are going to be thrown to the wolves this season. While I liked Renfroe, I have a lot of pitchers developing, so Renfroe wasn't too tough to part with. Hopefully the former 22-game winner can bring some sort of spark to the pitching staff in DC.

Emotionally hated to part with Sanders but I'm in full rebuild mode so had to jump at getting a young SP prospect like [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=8688209]Renfroe[/url]. I don't think he'll ever be an ace but I do expect he'll be a decent starter ultimately in the 4/5 hole.

A trade has been completed between the Pittsburgh Caledonians and the Boston Pops. The Boston Pops receive Rip Callison, Ken Dorman from the Pittsburgh Caledonians in exchange for John Bradford.

I posted Bradford's availability twice and really was surprised at how little interest there seemed to be in such a player (but I suppose value is in the eye of the beholder). Anyway, I ultimately had 3 offers to consider and felt this one was the best. The logic behind this trade for me was simple - I'm rebuilding and I need to add youth and this deal does that for me as I add two decent prospects (including a SP, which I really need).

I hope Bradford has some good years for the Caledonians...he certainly has the skills to be a difference maker.

A trade has been completed between the Kansas City River Cats and the Brooklyn Gothams. The Brooklyn Gothams receive Tyler Chatwood, Glenn McCauley, Draft Pick - 2032 Round 3 (KC) from the Kansas City River Cats in exchange for Tim Files.

Another trade that is likely a one season rental, but the KC fans are chanting "repeat, repeat", so I thought I'd best pick up a good IF backup. Files has good contact, good speed and good fielding, so I think he will make a decent contribution to my efforts. I gave up Chatwood, a backup IF who is not as good as Files, but is younger, a 3rd round pick, which in this league could amount to someone worthwhile, and McCauley, who could well become better than Files. So I think the trade benefited both parties.

The key to any trade for Fisher was getting back a decent SP prospect.

Fisher is a decent pitcher and will likely get better. Hegan is pretty decent too and had a great year last year. However, a 1st, a 2nd and a pretty good pitching prospect is pretty good value for a 29 year old non-star pitcher and a guy who, while decent, was not in my long-term plans and wouldn't have played for me this year anyway.

This deal accelerates my rebuild and will give me some good pieces in a few years.

A trade has been completed between the New York Hamiltonians and the Montreal Expats. The Montreal Expats receive Dickey Midkiff, Tex Liese, Draft Pick - 2032 Round 2 (NYA) from the New York Hamiltonians in exchange for John Ollom.

February 05, 2011 at 04:11AM View BBCode

Even after the Fisher deal, I was still in need of some decent pitching prospects.

Ollom has been great the last two years, but at OS32 he was not going to help me when it mattered. Liese gives me a pretty good relief prospect and Midkiff gives me a bit of power vR n the middle of my lineup while I rebuild(plus he will hopefully improve a bit and may be "flippable" in a few years). The 2nd is gravy - and I can hopefully translate it into another decent piece down the road.

This trade was all about accumluating assets.

A trade has been completed between the Philadelphia BullFrogs and the Montreal Expats. The Montreal Expats receive Jim Holm from the Philadelphia BullFrogs in exchange for Pablo Honey.

February 05, 2011 at 04:16AM View BBCode

Well, this isn't a deal I would have thought of making going into today.

Honey has been pretty decent the last year and a bit and is still only OS30. However Holm, at OS31, is only one year older, is better vL and is also pretty good vR. Holm won't really help me long-term, but he is a better mentor at this point than Honey and will assist me in not losing too many games through this long rebuild.

Not an earth-shattering deal, but one that I hope will help shape my future in a small way.

The Brooklyn-KC shuttle continues with Tom Files going to the midwest. The Gothams are stocked with younger infielders, so Files was not playing much, despite his relatively strong production, so this was another picking up assets trade.

At worst, the trade is no impact for the Gothams, but has upside in all three pieces coming back.

Gary Johnson for Duke Marion and a 2nd Round Pick

6/8/2029

A trade has been completed between the New York Bad Gnus and the Brooklyn Gothams. The Brooklyn Gothams receive [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=8288441]Duke Marion[/url], Draft Pick - 2030 Round 2 (NYN) from the New York Bad Gnus in exchange for [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7621201]Gary Johnson[/url].

As the season entered the first week of June, it became evident to the Bad Gnus management team that the starting pitching needed to be upgraded. The fifth spot in the rotation had become a sore spot. Gary Johnson was on the Brooklyn trade block, so the team decided to negotiate a deal for him.

Johnson, at OS29, is a relatively young pitcher with high endurance who may yet improve slightly upon his high B+ overall rating. He will add depth as a fifth starter who, hopefully, will improve on his 2029 start and perform much as he did in the past two seasons.

In exchange for Johnson, the Bad Gnus parted with a 2nd round free agent pick and Marion, an OS26 pitcher who may help the Gothams at some future date.

Johnson has been injury prone, and I swaw the opportunity to pick Marion (currently on the big league club) and a #2 pick, furthering the stock pile of future picks....

Didn't really have a specific spot in my pitching staff for Oliva, so getting something out of him was really all I was trying for. Should be good for both sides, hopefully theres a deep 2030 draft so the 3rd rounder has a shot at being worth while.

Oliva's limited major league stats are not impressive, but he is only OS29, so I thought it was worth a round 3 pick to see if Oliva will succeed in a middle relief role. He could also fill in as a spot starter, which is an added bonus if he can perform.

A trade has been completed between the Detroit Bravehearts and the Washington Conglomerate. The Washington Conglomerate receive Doyle Naleway from the Detroit Bravehearts in exchange for John Tracewski, Billy Sanders."

Sanders has pitched extremely well this year, and Tracewski was putting up good numbers, but I'm looking for young talent right now, and Naleway is a 25 y/o catcher that could potentially be a solid hitter for me in the future. I'll be working him in at first base mostly, but I'll also use him behind the plate some.

Ferguson for Elliott and Smith

A trade has been completed between the Cleveland Buckeyes and the Brooklyn Gothams. The Brooklyn Gothams receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6907586]Emmett Elliott[/url], [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=8469401]Amos Smith[/url] from the Cleveland Buckeyes in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6948988]Jesus Ferguson[/url].

A little more than two years after dealing Ferguson to Brooklyn for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7082133]Jack Catterson[/url] the Buckeyes have reacquired the veteran leftie in return for veteran Elliott and prospect Amos Smith.

Cleveland are in a tight three team race and arms are in short supply so I reached out to Brooklyn, we danced a bit and the deal was done. Ferguson is a mediocre back of the rotation/#3 guy out of the bullpen sort but Elliott was done in Cleveland and I can't find at bats for Smith so I made the deal.

In Smith Brooklyn gets a potentially useful OF bat who is already red lettered in PVR and Elliott is a solid mentor who had an OPS over .800 last season.

Conrad and a 2nd for Fallon

A trade has been completed between the Cleveland Buckeyes and the Boston Pops. The Boston Pops receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=8168790]Clive Conrad[/url], Draft Pick - 2030 Round 2 (CLE) from the Cleveland Buckeyes in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6987507]Mike Fallon[/url].

With pitchers dropping like flies, plus the impending declines of four members of my staff, I was approached by Boston regarding a deal for Fallon.

On the surface it looked like a no brainer, but Fallon's F health is a concern . Still the chance to add an A overall arm to the bullpen was just too tempting so I made the deal.

Ironically I acquired Conrad from Boston a litlle over a year ago in the [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6807949]Maddux[/url] deal and now he's back with the Pops . I think Conrad has a good chance to make high A- overall with a control heavy bundle and be a back of the rotation starter or a 100 inning + guy out of the pen but I'm in a dogfight right now and, when healthy, Fallon is a great addition to my bullpen. As I said to Chuck "I hope I don't end up regretting this one".

Selfishly this deal worked for me as I get a majors-ready young pitcher (Clive Conrad...nee Jeff Cox prior to his conversion to Atheism) who I can pitch the hell out of this year and next without worrying about results and hope for improves. I think Conrad can get to A- overall and B/A Velocity/Control which should be good enough to be a innings eater (given his A- health). And I get younger! Plus a 2nd rounder as icing.

Fallon (when healthy) is a studly pitcher and immediately helps TR in his title chase (along with Bull Maddux, another former Pop).

I think this is a win/win for both teams.

Dozier and a 4th Round Pick for Canizares and Gray (2 trades)

7/20/2029

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the New York Bad Gnus. The New York Bad Gnus receive [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7082132]Don "Sleepy" Dozier[/url] from the Boston Pops in exchange for [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=8607452]Jose Canizares[/url].

A trade has been completed between the New York Bad Gnus and the Boston Pops. The Boston Pops receive [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7181231]Tony Gray[/url] from the New York Bad Gnus in exchange for Draft Pick - 2030 Round 4 (BOS).

Recently, a couple of teams tendered trade offers of a minor nature. While reviewing the offers, I noticed that the Pops recently placed Sleepy Dozier on the trade block. His skills and ability immediately caught my attention.

The Bad Gnus once again are in a hotly contested pennant race. Our pitching has been stellar, but our offense has been considerably less potent than it was last season. We need to score more runs to support our starting staff. The opportunity to add a quality hitter in his prime who also has an excellent glove was one we could not pass up. Dozier has a history of injuries, but our management team is confident that having his bat in the lineup will enable our team to generate more runs while he plays in the majority of the games on the schedule.

The Bad Gnus front office team is very pleased with the make-up of our new infield. With [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=6987532]Mark Klaus[/url] at 3B, young and improving [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=7390967]Jim Buckner[/url] at SS, Dozier at 2B, and [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=6987527]Billy Hiatt[/url] at 1B, we have a good hitting group with excellent skills in the field. Each player should provide significant contributions for the foreseeable future.

In Jose Canizares, the Pops receive an excellent OF prospect. Our outfielders are aging, but we simply will address that need at a later date. Canizares will be missed, but he should get an opportunity to display his skills at the major league level in Boston very soon. Tony Gray will provide the Pops with a mentor who should provide the youngsters with guidance as they develop.

Hopefully, this exchange will help both teams achieve their goals.

Having lost [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6987498]Trivisano[/url] for the remainder of the season I decided I needed another veteran bat, casting around I saw that Boston were offering up Malave for a 2nd round pick, offered and accepted.

Malave is a solid veteran who plays numerous positions reasonably well and the cost was affordable.

The Pops are in full rebuild mode so were comfortable getting a reasonably good draft pick for Malave that might become a serviceable major leaguer down the line.

There is a lot unknown in this trade. I received a u2u from BRO, offering 3 2nd rounders for my 1st (projected to be 5th overall). I was still thinking about that offer when BOS popped this one onto my desk (see what I did there?). The real deal maker is DET's first rounder this season. I think it will end up being 12th, and I don't think there is a huge difference between 5 and 12 in this year's draft. Also, with VD, I'm going to enjoy having more depth in my minors and spreading my risk over multiple players.

Much of my IF, Sincock, Files and Bailor, had some significant declines in the offseason. I thought I'd best upgrade at SS. In Dahlgren I get a solid hitter and an excellent fielder. I have quite a few good prospects at OF, so Smykal was expendable. Even tho I could spare him, Smykal is a good prospect who has a lot of potential, so Chicago gets a good yoiung prospect while I get an upgrade at SS. The trade should benefit both of us.

I saw that the Guppies were looking to move older players, and checked out who was available. I liked Jolley and was hoping to hang onto him, he had good health, was only OS 30 and had already won a fireman award. After trading Gedeon and Dahlgren though, I decided to take a bit of a gamble here.

Johnson should be pretty good, and while Bertrand is a bit of a risk, we needed some kind of young pitching here. With variable development, it can be worth it taking more risks with players.

If nothing else, I got a bunch of prospects to watch out of the deals I've made, so I feel pretty good about things.

Wright for Malave and Doty

A trade has been completed between the Cleveland Buckeyes and the Baltimore Bay Dogs. Depth is essential in this league with the maximum injury rules in effect . Malave's second year of declines were pretty steep and I wasn't confident that he could fill in for me on a regular basis so I started looking around. Wright is a solid middle infield replacement so I offered up Malave, and his A+ mentor score, plus a marginal prospect in Doty and the deal was done.

Malave will help Baltimore's mentor score and Doty may make 4th outfielder level while Wright will decline after this year so it's a reasonable return for the Bay Dogs and a small upgrade for me. Wright will start against LHP until [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6807900]Peter Salem[/url] comes back and then join the bench crew.

A small deal but I'm not really in a position to make any big ones right now so a little fine tuning will have to suffice.
