It is sounding like a lot of it is starting pitchers not being able to go deep into games without getting shelled. I have my starter settings so they get taken out the instant they get tired because I know if I keep them in they get shelled like crazy in the late innings.June 14, 2006 at 08:01PM View BBCode
The point is simple: We've proven that although injuries may break down a pitcher that pitches a lot of games (although, there's minimal proof of that), his performance doesn't suffer. So regardless of wear and tear later on, all the guys that are in the single season leaders did not have bad years. In fact, they had some of their best years. They did not combust because they pitched 2 out of 3 games. There's viable proof by Tyson that late inning explosions do occur because of stamia. Something has to done. Either make the endurance penalty not as harsh or allow more pitchers on the staff so innings like this one don't happen again which just happened to me today. Keep in mind, I have 2 As, 6 A-s & 2 B+s on my staff (so I don't have any really bad pitchers). Also, my team ERA was under 3.10 at the time. I challenge anybody to find an MLB team that had a 10th inning like this - let alone a team that was leading the league in pitching at the time.June 15, 2006 at 01:01PM View BBCode
"If SimDynasty was more realistic about starting pitchers being able to go into the 8th and 9th innings without suddenly combusting, maybe there wouldn't be so much of a load on the relievers."June 15, 2006 at 03:28PM View BBCode
Also helps if you have four #1 overall picks in your starting rotation, huh? ;)June 15, 2006 at 05:58PM View BBCode

And I'm not complaining, cause I produce innings like this too - What goes around comes around. I would just prefer that nobody has innings like this, cause it's very very unrealistic.

you look at that 10 they scored, and you say, "that shouldn't happen, there has to be something wrong." i look at it, and i say, it could very well happen. it has happened, it does happen, and it should happen.

Alright, I still can't figure out how to get my starting pitchers to throw halfway decent, and am not using the option anymore to take them out as soon as they begin to tire... but I have started changing the preferences for all my teams to always bring in the most rested bullpen reliever via the way I said and am seeing what seems to be dramatic changes in relief pitching effectiveness on all my teams. Now if I could just get those starters to pitch decent as well...June 22, 2006 at 09:43PM View BBCode
All my teams seem to follow the exact same structure now. They are super on-base % guys who score a ton of runs and lead all teams in average and on base % but not so much with slugging. They tend to commit very few errors and now the relief pitching on all of them is a strong point as well. If I can just figure out how to get good starting pitchers my teams will all be pretty unbeatable...
