A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Seattle Spurs. The Seattle Spurs receive Ron Pactwa from the Boston Pops in exchange for Draft Pick - 2109 Round 3 (SEA).

Pactwa was going to rot in the Pop's minor leagues (there are too many other prospects ahead of him on our depth chart) so we were looking to move him to a developing team that could take a chance on his continued growth. I was looking to get 2nd round value for him but ended up taking a high 3rd from Seattle. I get "something" for him and Seattle gets a low-risk investment in a possible future starter.

This captures my thoughts about Pactwa well. I doubt he's going to be a major contributor on a playoff squad, so I was unwilling to part with an early second rounder. But, his starter-potential against RHP with A speed and solid A range made him worth a shot for a third rounder.

Likachyk for a 3rd

A trade has been completed between the Los Angeles Miracles and the San Francisco Sea Lions. The San Francisco Sea Lions receive Ima Likachyk from the Los Angeles Miracles in exchange for Draft Pick - 2110 Round 3 (SF).

Battered with injuries awhile back I was forced to bring up a pitcher who would not have cleared waivers when sent down, sort of why we require things like 2 catchers so that there may be a penalty for making roster decisions. With my arms getting healthy I knew I would lose Likachyk if I tried to waive him so I sent out a few offers of a 3rd for him and San Fran bit first.

I'm not happy about giving up someone I paid a fair bit for a year ago for a 3rd round pick but this way at least I get something for an asset I likely would have got nothing for and the Sea Lions get an A+ mentor who is an upgrade at the #5 spot for them.

A trade has been completed between the Chicago Hitmen and the Boston Pops. The Boston Pops receive Draft Pick - 2110 Round 2 (CHA), Draft Pick - 2109 Round 1 (CHA) from the Chicago Hitmen in exchange for Steve Sveum, Draft Pick - 2109 Round 2 (BRO)

I've been in a huge slump the last month which has taken me from first place to 7 games out of the playoffs. Feeling like this is an irreversible trend I've decided to sell off a few high-quality but declining vets. Sveum is still a "lights out" closer / reliever and can help a contender NOW. Chicago just lost their closer to injury and I offered Sveum and he accepted (after a brief negotiation).

I'm hopeful the picks allow me to restock my pitching in the minors.

Trade #1520370 has been completed between the Cincinnati BleacherBums and the San Diego Socialites. The San Diego Socialites receive Draft Pick - 2109 Round 2 (CIN) from the Cincinnati BleacherBums in exchange for Ricardo Ortiz.

I don't really consider my 5th starter a quality playoff starter so I needed a back-up option in case one of my 1-4s got injured. Ortiz is also a nice option from the bullpen in case there is an injury. Didn't want to give up a lot for what I was looking for. I still have Bos 1st rounder so felt trading my 2nd(late) was expendable.

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Los Angeles Miracles. The Los Angeles Miracles receive Draft Pick - 2110 Round 2 (BOS) from the Boston Pops in exchange for Herman Boone.

After a VERY disappointing 2108 season Boston management took the off-season to reassess what went wrong. Though there were a number of issues pitching, particularly down the stretch, just went sideways (injuries didn't help). Wanting to add greater skills while lowering the staff's average age, Boone (who was OTB) became a target. This deal was agreed to quickly and Boston is optimistic Boone can add a quality arm to the rotation for at least the next 2 seasons while we (hopefully) remain a contending team.

As always, time will tell.

Boone for a 2nd

I had too many pitchers who are out of options so I offered up Boone and Boston asked what I wanted, I felt a 2nd round pick was more than fair for a red letter overall swingman with 2 full years before declines and offered up the deal with a deadline of April 2nd so that I could assess my needs. Boston said they wanted to make the deal but then the time elapsed and Boston offered me the same deal which I accepted but screwed up by recalling the wrong player.

Boone's a league average pitcher with good health, hopefully he helps Boston and I get a 2nd round pick that might be helpful down the line.
