1) tyson's stated aim is to mimic the mlb awards, and the voting for them, as closely as possible. it's his game, so he gets to pick.
2) bart's mvp formula is the best method of doing that anyone has yet provided for the mvp voting.
3) that formula is significantly less accurate without the RF bonus.
that's it. i'm honestly not sure why these seem to be such difficult concepts.
the simple truth is that the formula is not intended to select the best hitter and give him the award because that's not what the mlb award is intended to do either. if anyone is of the opinion that this is what the formula should do then that person is guaranteed to be repeatedly upset with the results. however, that is purely a reflection on the opinions of that person, not at all a reflection on the formula, which does a fine job of doing what it was designed to do.
once again, if anyone can come up with a better formula, i'd love to see it and i can pretty much guarantee that tyson will use it. but if they can't, or won't, then i would respectfully suggest that perhaps they should then keep their yap shut about how 'utterly ridiculous' the current formula is.

(restricting position conversions, by the way, is a conversation completely different than mvp 'voting' and something i be happy to support.)
