Boston was the opposite. I had 6 picks this OS through the first 3 rounds and even if I liked all of those picks didn't have room for that many new prospects.

Sent out offers to several teams and Milwaukee accepted. I know have 2 firsts and a second this draft and one first and 3 seconds next year (plus a 3rd)...spreading out my picks a little more.

As per [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/oldforum-viewthread.jsp?tid=439736]this thread[/url] I wagered a 3rd round pick with San Diego that [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11666832]Terlecki[/url] wouldn't drive in 160 runs, he did........on the nose. The funny thing is I was going to set the line at 161 because that is how many [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11549512]Cliburn[/url] drove in the year he chased the record but then thought, meh

Vets for Young Pitching

A trade has been completed between the Kansas City River Cats and the Boston Pops. The Boston Pops receive Bob Briggs from the Kansas City River Cats in exchange for Kelly "Green" Davison.

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Atlanta Silverbacks. The Atlanta Silverbacks receive Dalton Converse from the Boston Pops in exchange for Ray Rettenmund.

Both of the above were driven by the same goal - rebuild our pitching in the minors as part of a new rebuild. Plain and simple. I do need to make sure I don't get rid of all of our talent so that we don't hit the dreaded loss penalty!

I'm going to try to make the playoffs again, so I asked Boston what he wanted for Davison. I have quite a few decent pitching prospects in the minors, so was willing to part with Briggs. Davison does have issues (D+ health and C+ endurance), but I am willing to take a chance with him to see if I can break the curse of a third place finish this season.

Trade #1479385 has been completed between the Milwaukee Indians and the Cincinnati BleacherBums. The Cincinnati BleacherBums receive Tony Bakenhaster from the Milwaukee Indians in exchange for Draft Pick - 2102 Round 4 (CIN).

Bakenhaster was on the wire and Cincy asked I pull him back and trade for a 4th since he was not getting his WW choices being 12th on that list. Tony needed to go somewhere he wasn't good for me. A 4th was better than nothing.

After seeing LA pass me largely on the strength of hitting homers instead of singles and steals, I decided to accept this trade that Boston proposed... it gives me a bonafide HR threat vs RHP. It cost me Rettenmund who has been coming along pretty nicely but I only projected to be about a 4th starter (maybe a #3 if progression goes really good). So while Converse has holes, he helps me now instead of a project for a few years from now... which is what Boston is looking for.

All Star C to Milwaukee for Bolling

January 20, 2017 at 04:27AM View BBCode

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Milwaukee Indians. The Milwaukee Indians receive Dave Thompson from the Boston Pops in exchange for Willy Bolling.

The Boston rebuild continues unabated. With my future draft picks I believe I can build up my position players but pitching is so difficult to do. So I know I need to move key parts to get talent.

Thompson is and has been arguably one of the best Catchers in the league over the past 5 seasons and has top flight hitting skills (A+ power from both sides of the plate, and maxed out PvR), an A+ arm and with his A+ health he can play almost everyday and avoid the DL.

In exchange I get a very promising starting pitcher prospect who I believe could be my staff's future ace (or at least a top tier top of the rotation guy).

I can't speak for Milwaukee directly BUT I believe Thompson gives his line up a huge boost at a spot where he had a gap (Taffy Candy is good but spends plenty of time on the DL with his D- health). I made this offer thinking Milwaukee could make a serious run for the playoffs with a few more key pieces.

Yea Candy is a Hospital nightmare. My trainer says he needs to be the backup. So when a catcher was offered I took the deal. If Bolling turns out to be exceptional I will be disappointed but I need to ride the wave and see if this edition of Milwaukee can make the playoffs.

I project Bolling to get to A/B+ at worst and A+/A- at best but probably some where like a A+/B+...

Either way its a pretty good prospect, the A health helps a lot, I mean you took it 3rd overall so you know the value as well...

High price for a catcher with B- contact, B speed and last season before decline...

I would have pegged the Catcher's worth as a mid to playoff 2nd roudner..

my opinion anyways is that it is a huge steal for Bos. But I just follow the letters, I try not to let the stats sway me when owners try to argue worth. I don't really follow all stars and things like that either, so take it with a grain of salt.

Not trying to upset anyone, just thought to put my thoughts down and see how the player turns out.

The Bolling comment is on me really. I don't like to trade players and then find out I gave up too soon. But I need to ride the wave and the catcher may be good even in declines for three or four seasons.

he has B- CVR in his decline year. at most he's not awful next year. I agree with the 2nd rounder valuation. bolling was a pretty massive overpay. if you were going to move him to take a shot, why not move him for pitching? brumley or seitzer would have been more substantial upgrades and bolling would have been more reasonable value for either if you were wanting to del with BOS.

because the offer was for a Catcher. And most offers in the BOHO to me are take it or no deal. Catching has been hard for me to have a consistent one there so I took it.

I think it was an overpay in that Bollling will likely end up around what is projected here, however I also think that it's fair value if Milwaukee believes they are a playoff team with Thompson on their roster.

The NL is in flux this year, though it is early, and if Milwaukee believe that the acquisition of a catcher with a career OPS of .800 can push them over the top then I applaud them for their aggressive trading stance.

I totally agree, if Milwaukee feels like going for it, then going for am additional catcher is applauded. Michel the purpose of the message post was not to say you made a bad decision to get am upgrade at cthcer, I believe your thinking was sound. I just felt you could have gotten a bit more like another solid vet or 2, or given up less like one of your other lesser prospects. But if like you said no one else would trade you a cthcer and Boston was ur only option and he wouldn't budge then I guess the market dictates the value of both players and the trade was fine. But if you didn't exhaust all avenues or u didn't hardball Boston then it's on you.

All Star OFer for 2 Prospects

Trade #1480103 has been completed between the Los Angeles Miracles and the Boston Pops. The Boston Pops receive Jimmy Falcone, Art Edens from the Los Angeles Miracles in exchange for Francisco Bernier.

Broken record but the Boston rebuild continues. Bernier, a late 2nd round DP has blossomed into a 5 tool player (one of only 11 A overall position players in the league). He's versatile (can play 4 positions), has great speed and can hit for average AND power (his OPS the last 2+ seasons being >.900). And he's "only" OS 31. The knock on him has been limited to his health. TR can speak for LA but Bernier (IMHO) gives his lineup a big boost.

For me I get 2 promising prospects with one being a pitcher (Edens) who could make it to The Show next year, hopefully as a starter. He'll need a season or two to learn how to pitch to the "big boys" but I like his future. Falcone will move immediately into my starting lineup and I'm hopeful could be "All Star" material in a few years (if not at least a very solid starter). Like Bernier I do worry about his ability to avoid the injury bug.

I really had no intention on moving youth for vets this year and when Boston posted the initial "5 tool OFer available" thread I ignored it but 4Ever got proactive so I made this offer and he took it.

Falcone is a potential All Star and top of the order hitter while Eden's should be a solid 100 inning bullpen stalwart or #4 SP and if Bernier wasn't only OS31 I never would have made this deal. The fact remains however that we somehow made the playoffs last year and the NL looks wide open again so adding an A overall hitter in his prime was too tempting to pass on.

We'll see how it plays out.

Trade #1481697 has been completed between the Chicago Hitmen and the St. Louis Men In Laundry. The St. Louis Men In Laundry receive Dick Lawrence, Rafael Reynolds from the Chicago Hitmen in exchange for Art Ramirez, Mike Meyer, Hal Olerud, Dewey Hennis, Charlie Summers.

Somehow were in first place and while I have no expectation that will last I don't want to let the chance slip by either. But this deal for me as much or more about going forward in future seasons. This team should be nearing its window and SD, LAN and PHI are all nearing the end if their run. There's an opportunity in the NL in the next few years and this is step one in trying to take it. I hate giving up olerud but Lawrence is an A overall pitcher and only OS 28, so I think it's good value. Summers and Meyer for Reynolds fills a hole in my lineup and finally solidifies SS for a while. The two vets are loss penalty help for CHA that I can replace.

And since my rebuild has been uneven at best, I saw an opportunity to get younger and continue to stock the minors for the future.

2 Veteran Pitchers to Milwaukee for Youth

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Milwaukee Indians. The Milwaukee Indians receive Homer "Simpson" Seitzer, Johnny "Apple" Anderson, Draft Pick - 2104 Round 3 (BOS) from the Boston Pops in exchange for Leon Garrity, John Wight, Oscar Bradford, Draft Pick - 2103 Round 2 (MIL), Draft Pick - 2104 Round 2 (MIL).

Yep, more vets leaving Boston...this time to Milwaukee. I'll let Milwaukee speak for itself on his perspective. For me I added 2 more potential future starters in Wight (infield) and Garrity (OF) and if I can get one starter out of the 2 second rounders I'll be happy. I asked for Bradford as a "throw-in" just to keep my mentoring scores high.

I've now got hopefully 6 pieces in place for my future line-up (May, Hall, Falcone, Mahoney, Garrity and Wight) with several other prospects developing. Plus 6 DPs in the first 2 rounds over the next 2 OS's. Pitching is still an issue but hoping to backfill with upcoming drafts.

Trade #1481835 has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Atlanta Silverbacks. The Atlanta Silverbacks receive Woody "Allen" Cedeno from the Boston Pops in exchange for Eric Mantle, Draft Pick - 2103 Round 2 (ATL), Draft Pick - 2104 Round 1 (ATL).

In an effort to shake things up and also add in some more power, the Silverbacks have sent Mantle along with a couple of picks to Boston for Cedeno. He will start a new adventure as the RF for the Atlanta club. I'm also hoping he can keep up the current OPS of .900+ here in the heat of the south. Good luck to Mantle and the Boston team in their rebuilding endeavor.
