Trade #1392068 has been completed between the Kansas City River Cats and the Brooklyn Gothams. The Brooklyn Gothams receive Dave Edillo from the Kansas City River Cats in exchange for Yale Tolentino, Pete Lamline, Draft Pick - 2096 Round 2 (BRO).

I had Cliff Lyttle http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=11696623 in the minors ready to be my starting catcher, so Edillo at OS30 was a prime trade prospect. I hated to give up Edillo. He has had some very good improves for the last few seasons and has turned into an excellent C, but I got the best I think I could get for him: a round 2 pick and a couple of so so prospects. Actually Tolentino might turn out to be pretty decent, once he converts to 1B, altho his lack of speed will always be an issue. But all in all I am satisfied with the trade.

He hated leaving, it appears. IN his first game as a Gotham, slipped on a bar of soap and ended up on the DL for 36 games.:(

[url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11482981]"Uncle" Floyd Holdridge[/url] for Texas' '94 2nd round pick.

Why not?

My team is in 1st place through 48 games with a .688 winning percentage and a pyth expected % of .682. Holdridge upgrades our OF depth and starting lineup and hedges us against injury with his red letter health. He doesn't even decline right away! :)

Handbridge has proven in the past that he can start and produce in the league but he wasn't playing for us, 170 at bats the past two years combined, so I offered him up for a 2nd after Texas expressed a desire to add some vets. He is replaced b y [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=11517219]Watlington[/url] who is a year younger with similar ratings and I get a late 2nd rounder.

Trade #1392984 has been completed between the Kansas City River Cats and the Texas Hamiltonians. The Texas Hamiltonians receive Sam Pujols from the Kansas City River Cats in exchange for Angelo Edington, Mason Capwell, Draft Pick - 2095 Round 1 (TEX)

Continuing my rebuild by trading an OS35 overall A rated SP for what will be likely a playoff round 1 pick and a couple of average, close to major league ready prospects. I wanted to get more for Pujols, but didn't get any takers. I think this is an even trade, in any case. It will be interesting to see what Capweill looks like in a couple of seasons.

Webster & DeMaestri for some picks

A trade has been completed between the Los Angeles Miracles and the Chicago Hitmen. The Chicago Hitmen receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11367233]Mike Webster[/url], Elbie DeMaestri from the Los Angeles Miracles in exchange for Draft Pick - 2094 Round 2 (CHA), Draft Pick - 2095 Round 2 (CHA), Draft Pick - 2096 Round 3 (CHA).

I posted about vets being available and CHA made me an offer for Webster & DeMaestri that had a prospect, two 3rds & a 2nd. I countered with this, and another option, and a deal was done.

Chicago gets a couple of solid major leaguers who are declining but still valuable, and with our retirement system he has the certainty that they are coming back. I get a pair of 2nd round picks and a who knows 3rd rounder, it's a small deal but it seems like both teams get what they want.

I now have three 2nd round picks in the upcoming draft which may give me some flexible to make other moves, or just add to the prospect count.

Haslin for Gallagher

A trade has been completed between the Los Angeles Miracles and the New York Goodens. The New York Goodens receive Bernie Haslin from the Los Angeles Miracles in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11220940]Dusty Gallagher[/url].

So my squad has done a good job of clubbing their way into playoff contention but with a team ERA well north of 4 and only two bullpen arms with ERA below 5 I felt an addition might be in order. I started a conversation with KC about Williams but realized the price would be more than I wanted to spend due to my circumstances.

Currently we are five games up for the NL wildcard spot but we are light years behind San Diego in games and talent so while I'm willing to spend a little to buy a lottery ticket I'm not willing to sell my house to buy a whole lot of lottery tickets. So I reached out to NY and offered up Haslin for Gallagher and the deal was done. New York are rebuilding so 38 year old relievers aren't really in their plans and while Haslin's not great he can be a reasonable weak side platoon option for the next decade.

It's a small deal but makes me a little better and allows NY to gain something for an asset that likely won't have any value in 2 months sim time .

Yeah, that sums it up. I pretty much don't need wins and this was a swap of for a bench bat with power (that may never play). The reliever won't do me any good besides f'n up my lottery position.

A little good will towards my opponents above me never hurts. In a max development league, sticking guys with a decent attribute in the minors for a long time usually nets something playable. Haslin has decent improves in his mid 20s down there.

Pops Acquire Another Starter

July 18, 2016 at 11:05PM View BBCode

10/14/94

A Trade has been completed between the Milwaukee Indians and the Boston Pops. The Boston Pops receive Dick Johnson from the Milwaukee Indians in exchange for Draft Pick - 2095 Round 1 (BOS).

I posted earlier that I'd make my 2095 1st rounder (the 12th overall pick) available for an established pitcher. I had several nibbles but I liked this one the best. I traded the first for three reasons:

1. I've got a quality young team that is ready to compete...adding a few more solid arms should help.
2. I've still got 3 2nd round DPs so can still add some developable youth.
3. I've got a stacked minors and don't have room for more than 2-3 prospects anyway.

Milwaukee is rebuilding and this pick should help them add a quality prospect.

Basically with ST. Louis in deep six mode I am guaranteed to finished no worse than 7th this year and maybe next so getting a 1st for Johnson was a no brainer.

Still a few guys left if interested.

Crane, Howard & a 1st for Williams

July 20, 2016 at 02:47AM View BBCode

4/1/2095

A trade has been completed between the Kansas City River Cats and the Los Angeles Miracles. The Los Angeles Miracles receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11549498]Matt Williams[/url] from the Kansas City River Cats in exchange for Vince Crane, Carson Howard, Draft Pick - 2098 Round 1 (LAN).

A couple of seasons I inquired about Williams but at that time KC wasn't quite ready to deal, then later they were but wanted [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=11788749]Kilmer[/url], which I wasn't keen on. Still later KC posted availability but I didn't think I had the horses, and fortunately nobody else did, so this spring when Williams again became available I sent off an offer. KC rejected and countered and the deal was done.

I don't know if Williams will be the difference but San Diego had some declines and we came within a whisper of 100 wins last year and then took the LCS to six games. Our offense is a thing of beauty and the declines were off set by improvements at the major league level but our arms are weak. I add an A overall SP with 4 years left before decline in return for a good relief prospect, a top hitting prospect and a 1st but I kept Kilmer so I'm good with it.

KC gets some more push for the rebuild, I get another piece to try and bring down the behemoth. We'll see how it works out.

Trade #1407136 has been completed between the Kansas City River Cats and the Los Angeles Miracles. The Los Angeles Miracles receive Matt Williams from the Kansas City River Cats in exchange for Vince Crane, Carson Howard, Draft Pick - 2098 Round 1 (LAN).

I think this is best deal I could have made for Williams at this point. The offers I received last season were not impressive, but going from them, I figured I needed to ask for a little less if I was going to move him (and he needed to be moved). The 2098 1st will hopefully be around the middle of the pack (sorry TR :)), and both Crane and Howard have potential. All in all, I am quite satisfied.

Well I'd be shocked if it was a playoff pick, even adding Williams I think my window is 2 years, unless I can add some bullpen help over that period.

Trade #1407216 has been completed between the Texas Hamiltonians and the Detroit Space Goats. The Detroit Space Goats receive[url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11443551]SP Dick Fear[/url], [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11630513]2B Jason Clarey[/url], [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11940329]OF Len Spiezio[/url], [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11912294]OF George Lipski[/url], TEX 2098 1st rounder, TEX 2096 2nd rounder in exchange for [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11971812]2B Yusneil Sandoval[/url] and [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11517136]P Bobby Black[/url].

Let's just say that I haven't been impressed with the lack of offers for my top-tier guys, so I decided to go for it instead. Detroit got hit with some declines pretty bad, and my team still seemed solid enough on paper to give Boston a run for the AL title, so I made the offer and he took it.

In Sandoval I get a plus defender with red letter health and power which allows me to move [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=11517140]Jim Pyle[/url] to RF to shore up my OF weakness and hopefully earn a couple more MVP's.

In Black I add a RP to shoe-horn into the primary role out of my bullpen while I promote [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=11729937]Bob Flowers[/url] to the starter role that I was hoping he would be ready for by now.

I give up Spiezio and Lipski, two very solid OF prospects considering the weak draft classes lately, as well as a 1st rounder 3 years out. That one is the big gamble pick; if declines are harsh, or I can't flip the roster, I'm going to be neck-deep in a rebuild at that point. If I get lucky, it will be a playoff pick.

Good luck to Detroit on the rebuild.

Palozza for a Pick

July 20, 2016 at 06:33PM View BBCode

4/1/95

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Milwaukee Indians. The Milwaukee Indians receive George "Lolla" Palozza from the Boston Pops in exchange for Draft Pick - 2098 Round 2 (MIL).

Palozza, who has been OTB for awhile, is close to A- overall but given his age (OS25) he should be playing in the majors now. Unfortunately I had NO room for him in the majors (nor would I) so he was only going to rot in my system. Milwaukee is clearly in rebuild mode and seemed like a perfect spot for a guy like him to get playing time without worrying about the results (at least for the next year or two). So I get some future draft value and Milwaukee hopefully gets to add another piece to their future puzzle.

And while yes I traded another 2nd for a B+ player this one has improves left. I decided that Palooza was a better choice than what historically in my tenure 2nd round picks have been.

Not a bad start for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=11758834]Mr. Palozza[/url] in Milwaukee (.438 average after his first 4 games)!

Make sure to play him as much as possible to maximize his ICs.

If I can't get some bullpen help it might not even be that long, my top 3 relievers are OS40, OS37 & OS35, my offense will be fine for 4-5 years but the arm situation is not as good, especially since [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11788749&statsorimps=imps]Kilmer[/url] could to be a "bust in the majors" (0-36 so far) and is out of options.

Trade #1418956 has been completed between the Texas Hamiltonians and the Kansas City River Cats. The Kansas City River Cats receive "Uncle" Floyd Holdridge, Draft Pick - 2096 Round 1 (TEX) from the Texas Hamiltonians in exchange for Stanley Duckworth.

[url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11482976]Duckworth[/url] gives me another lineup threat to add to Hearron, Pyle, and Wilshere. He has another season left before he declines and I really, really, really want to be back in the playoffs this year before my pitching completely falls apart with age and injury.

I give up [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11482981]Holdridge[/url] whom I had acquired for a 2nd round pick to play a key 4th/5th OF role but has been an enormous disappointment, and also a 1st round draft pick in '97. Depending on how next season goes, I could regret this terribly before all is said and done.

Hooray!

Not much to say on my end, still continuing to rebuild. Thanks to Hammy for changing the 2096 1st to 2097 (which I thought it was, but I didn't look closely enough). I think Duckworth should make a significant contribution to the Hamiltonians. He had 10 improves in 93 and 9 in 94, looks like a classic late bloomer, and he's been hitting really well this season.

Temple, Johnston & a 3rd for Furillo

August 04, 2016 at 01:00AM View BBCode

7/13/2095

A trade has been completed between the Los Angeles Miracles and the Philadelphia BullFrogs. The Philadelphia BullFrogs receive Jack Johnston, Danny Temple, Draft Pick - 2096 Round 3 (CHA) from the Los Angeles Miracles in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11517182]Jesse Furillo[/url].

My bullpen is a disaster, my best pitchers are old and brittle and I needed help. I was rebuffed in a couple of attempts to grab a starting pitcher, figuring if I got a solid #4 I could put [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?mode=player&playername=nobody&id=11788737]Luca[/url] in the pen to stabilize things, so I looked for a true reliever. Furillo is having a rough season but he's been solid the past 4 seasons, and 6 out of the last 7 so I made an offer and it was accepted.

I'm giving up a young ML bat in [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11696592]Temple[/url] that I may regret a few years from now but I have lots of bats and while I think Temple can be a nice piece he's not a game changer so I gave him up for a shot at the next two years. I stated earlier, and I still believe, that this team has a 2 year window so that's how I'm lining things up. My team is under performing a bit, I believe, and this deal makes me better right now so I'm good with that.

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Kansas City River Cats. The Kansas City River Cats receive Charles Johnson, Fred Tomasic-Park from the Boston Pops in exchange for Dan Hoderlein.

This was the big bat I was hoping to add for a playoff run. Lot's of offers going back and forth but Hoderlein had been on my radar for some time. I only need him to be a contributor this year and next, after which Francisco Bernier will assume a corner OF spot. Tomasic has the potential to be a solid player for a decade or so...but wasn't ready to help me NOW. This trade helps me now, helps KC later (hopefully a win - win deal).

Madison for Black

August 11, 2016 at 01:25AM View BBCode

A trade has been completed between the Los Angeles Miracles and the Texas Hamiltonians. The Texas Hamiltonians receive Victor Ramirez, Charlie Madison from the Los Angeles Miracles in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11517136]Bobby Black[/url].

With September fast approaching I decided I didn't like what I saw and made a last minute move to acquire another arm, shipping 26 year old starting catcher Charlie Madison and veteran reliever Victor Ramirez to Texas in return for 33 year old swingman Bobby Black. This was a tough call as Madison had been considered as a "cornerstone" player in the Los Angeles organization and looked to be our starting catcher for the next 7-8 years but I firmly believe the window for this team is small so up against the trade deadline with the chance to acquire an A overall SP I didn't want to take any chances.

Losing Madison will hurt the offense, but we've got lots of offense and Madison's replacement [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?mode=player&playername=nobody&id=11853356]Jess Remberg[/url] has an A+ arm so our defense should improve. Black will slot in as our #2 SP until [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=11729944]Billy Keerl[/url] comes back and then we will have 3 A overall pitchers at the top of the rotation and I'll take my chances with that. I also gives me the flexibility to move Luca into the pen to strengthen that area once Keerl returns.

Overall it's a "win now" deal for me and Texas gets a young hitter with lots of upside at a position of scarcity. at the expense of a soon to be declining asset. We'll see how it works out, if I don't make the playoffs and Remsberg can't hit his weight it's probably a disaster for me but I'm willing to take that chance.
