Anyone who doesn't pull for the other team playing against the Yankees also deserves a crack den to pop up in their neighborhood.

We are at war with Eurasia. We have always been at war with Eurasia.
As to the hierarchy, yes, there can always be a hierarchy. For example, I was a Phillies fan when I was young because my grandparents and uncle were Phillies fans. I ended up becoming an O's fan but I still root for the Phillies to some degree. But there's always a clear delineation. The O's are first, then the Phils, and then whoever is playing the Yankees. In that order. The Nats will work their way into that rotation somehow. The point is that when one of your secondary teams wins, you should never feel the same as if your primary team won. It's nice, but it's not really that great because you're only a tangential fan.
As supreme dictator, of course I will make up lots and lots of arbitrary rules depending on how the sun shines that day or how the clouds look. But I don't think these are arbitrary. There are a lot of sports fans who get tired of the front-runners who have every excuse in the world for why they aren't front-runners. Your favorite player plays for the Lakers, or you watched a stirring documentary on the Yankees when you were 12 or you got Cowboys boxers from that chick in 11th grade who let you get to 3rd base. And quite frankly, I'm drawing a line in the sand for all real fans who have some sort of school or regional loyalty to stand on one side and all the people who pick and choose teams based on how successful they are/have been over the last 5 years on the other. And that other side is where the crack house goes.

I use the heirachy for football. I'm not diehard for anyone except the Seahawks, but the teams I kinda like (but won't mortage the farm to go to a playoff game) are the Panthers and Jaguars. I'm mostly indifferent to everyone else, but the teams that can go to hell are the Raiders, Rams and 49ers

In response to the continued inability of YAZ to follow the rules, I bring this thread back. It also contains a post by a solid alter-ego that no one remembers.

Goddamit! In my world we don't do fairy things like banish people, unless it's to an island where they have to fight giant gila monsters and a sadistic island warden in order to survive. In my world we throw people into overcrowded prisons and then turn the excess into Soylent Green. But mostly we banish people to islands where they have to fight giant gila monsters.

Addendum to the manifesto:
If you are sports fan who's team just got beaten like a bunch of little girls, and you use the term "lucky" or some other such thing to describe the opposing team, we will throw you in a cell for 15 years and then hypnotize you to make you....do unnatural things.

Unless the other team actually did get lucky...

Outside observers can, of course, point this out. Those with a rooting interest in the team that got beaten cannot. So let it be written, so let it be done.

I've rooted for the Yankees a few times in recent years: in the WS, when they played the Marlins, and last year in the ALCS against the Red Sox, a team I happen to like very much.
But my hatred of the Yankees is outweighed by my hatred of the idea that losers can be champions. Baseball is not like football, which plays a 16-game schedule. If 162 games mean nothing, just start the season with a playoff bracket that include all the teams, have the playoffs, and be done by July 4.
Florida has two WS "championships", but they've never won a thing in the regular season. In fact, they've never won more than 92 games.
