The starting CF on that team, Clarke, is a worthless OS28 player with B- range. Both Franco and Flanigan have A or A+ range.
To me it's a no-brainer that Franco should be playing and Clarke should be benched.
Can the bot grasp that type of situation where positions are easily switched and the team is much better off? That's as easy a move as a defensive player can make.

Not a fan of the Bots. The community of players is what makes the game fun.... This does not feel like an improvement. I will hold judgement, but I may reduce a couple of teams until I know if this is a positive move or not.March 17, 2014 at 06:11AM View BBCode
Of course we prefer to have every team run by an owner, but having a team run by a bot is better than allowing the team to go unmanned and get worse, because then that team gets harder to sell, worsening the problem.March 17, 2014 at 09:25PM View BBCode
Do we know that disorganized teams are harder to sell? I picked up a chaperoned team recently because it was discounted, and it was equally annoying to reshape the team in my own image via the waiver wire. The only difference to me was that the roster was smaller (but not better) and I had a ton of traded-for draft picks that I won't be able to develop.March 18, 2014 at 08:08AM View BBCode
The problem with disorganized teams is that players tend to lose some of their best development years without picking up IC's or coach points.March 18, 2014 at 08:31AM View BBCode
The bot is now claiming and waiving players and moving them between the majors and minors; this should fix up the teams with poor autoclaimed players on their major league rosters.March 18, 2014 at 06:53PM View BBCode
Just my opinion, but why take them off? You say time from time you will give them away but at least extend the time period. I don't want to play against some DynastyBot.The underlying premise is that when teams aren't selling, it means we have too many teams/leagues. So we need a mechanism to pare leagues down. We need a way to decrease the supply of available teams.

Criminy do we really need DynastyBots? I can spend five minutes a day maintaining a team till someone buys it. I'm really good at keeping teams from winning in any case.Once a team has been on the for sale list for 1 month, it will no longer be eligible for purchase and we don't want a chaperone running the team indefinitely.

If you're in a term league, hopefully you won't have to be on pause waiting for new owners anymore. Or maybe someday we'll even be able to start a new league again! The other benefit, a league that we might have folded can now stay alive without harming other leagues.

I love economics debates. I would say what we could also use is a way to increase the demand of available teams. This isn't a supply-side problem unless we want it to be.Yes, that is our next focus. Not only drawing in more people to the site in general, but converting more people to the pay leagues.

what is the job description for being commish and is it fairly simple ??March 23, 2014 at 10:38PM View BBCode
To the point about player development, yes, the growth of those particular players is stunted, but all it does is give new GMs more flexibility in creating a team in their own image. When you take over a good team, you're stuck with average picks unless you rebuild.
Now, if the codebits had feelings, then yes, I would agree that underdevelopment is horrible for their psyche, not to mention they get a full pension despite not being set up for success.

Granted, people may review rosters before selecting one, but it is a different argument altogether to say a potential GM would select NO team because they all suck. Most new GMs gut a team when they take it over anyway. There aren't a lot of opportunists that play SD.March 24, 2014 at 04:47PM View formatted

In that event, will the players from the DynastyBot teams cease to exist, or be spread around the new league by a dispersal draft? The players will retire.

If we were able to allow chaperones to still manage teams, then let bots manage teams that are not chaperoned, then this could work.
Once a chaperone wants to move in on a team with a bot, then let them, and get rid of the bot.
A bot can not replace the intuitiveness of a chaperone..
Nor will a bot fix the problems of a team that has been ravaged by a "jumping around owner", which is really the main issue.

I'm confused Tyson, once a bot goes in the team is no longer available for purchase? ever?April 03, 2014 at 10:46PM View BBCode
Yes, from the original post:In addition, any Subscription Speed league teams that go unsold for 1 month will be put under control of the DynastyBot, removed from the sale list, and can no longer be purchased. Though we may give away these teams for free from time to time as part of promotions. We will start to enforce this policy in the next week or two.

it hurts to see those young arms being misused, but they are better than what else is there in the minors. Since no human will ever again own this team, and nobody can trade for its' players, i guess it doesn't really matter. shame to see those youngins go to waste though.April 15, 2014 at 06:58PM View BBCode
