Two years in a row. Just need to sell off some of these pieces so I can pretend to contend now.

Thanks for doing these rankings, nuzzy. It is appreciated.

20: 1. Ron Saunders C+ SD; 2. Bobby Harrison B- CHA; 3. George Sanchez B- SF; 4. PeeWee Fowler B- LAN; 5. Frank Rodgers B- CHA

I liked Saunders slight power advantage over the B- guys. I also considered Tom Jackson who had a C-/A- right split but he also has C- speed which will probably make him too slow for the majors.

There were no players with blue and or red splits on the right.

Here are the B- guys
CvR/PvR/SP
Harrison B/C+/C+
Sanchez C/B-/B-
Fowler B/C+/A
Rodgers C-/B-/A
Brusstar B-/C+/B
Hastings C+/C-/A+
---
Saunders C-/B/B+

I just did a quick read and in retrospect, I rated Harrison too high.

Of the B- guys, it probably should be Fowler, Rodgers, Brusstar, Sanchez, Harrison and Hastings.

How would you have ranked them?

truthfully, i don't have anywhere near the amount of time i'd need to do what you do.

so i just rely on your rankings.

RECOUNT!

Brussie goes from unmentioned to 1st in his age ranking. Interesting.

Also, the second place guy isn't C-, is he?

Have you thought of a formula to combine the prospects ratings and the other thread ratings you do to get an overall "state of the franchise" rating?

2172 Prospects' Report

April 05, 2016 at 01:58AM View BBCode

Points: 5 for first, 3 for second and 1 for third.

For pitchers I value control more than power. All ages are based on the season start not OS. Health and Endurance are factored in for tie-breaks. Just because a player has the higher overall ranking doesn't mean they will be valued more highly in my system.

Starting pitching
17: 1. Perdue Cin C; 2. Toussaint Atl C; 3. Pack Cin C
18: 1. Hansen Min B; 2. Hensley Min C+; 3. Booker NYN C
19: 1. Leary Atl C+; 2. Anderson NYA B-; 3. Allard Atl C+

21: 1. Hardaway Det B+; 2. Tomlin SD B+; 3. Atlanta LAN B

Relief Pitching

21: 1. Merritt Sd B-; 2. Gonzalez Tex B-; 3. Didier NYN B-
22: 1. Burbink SD B; 2. Moore Tex B; 3. Rainse Sd B

Position players
7 points for first then 5-3-2-1. RP over RC and then speed. I do value overall a bit more here than for pitchers.

17: 1. Boehringer Hou C+; 2. Carter Det; 3. Ramsay Sea; 4. Biggs Det C-; 5. Calvert Cin
18: 1. Harness Min C+; 2. Primerose Det C+; 3. Robinson Sea C+; 4. Frailing Cin C+; 5. Deering Atl C+

Why do you not do this by OS age? The implication is that these guys get/have an extra season of improvements. But they don't.

My SP Elmer Taylor is OS 19, age 19, B- overall B/C+; he is most likely going to be a solid A+/A-, A overall SP. Your system rated Leary, Anderson, and Allard all ahead of Taylor, but he will have an entire extra season of improvements MORE than any of those three guys. The difference is easily worth 6 overall rating points and possibly more.

Meanwhile, you considered Hanson, Hensley, and Booker to each be worth something as "18 year olds" even though they are Taylor's same OS 19 age. He is already better than all three of them, and has the same number of impact season's left for improvement.

I guess I'm just using Taylor as an example of how your system is maybe overlooking the value of a prospect's OS age and is somewhat misleading with the categories that are there. :)

Why sit still when you could rock the boat?!!!!?
