Pike did show his value in his first [url=http://simdynasty.com/boxscore.jsp?boxscoreid=22900469&cityid=6]game[/url] with the River Cats. A two hit complete game shutout with 10 Ks!

It's hard to believe that with 30 career shutouts, and the kind of dominating stuff he has, Pike has never thrown a no hitter. I remember a one hitter and a couple of two hitters but he's never had a no-no.

Mind you no hitters are more rare in sim than in MLB, there have only been eleven in the BHL since Pike debuted in 2033 .

A trade has been completed between the Kansas City River Cats and the Atlanta Crackers. The Atlanta Crackers receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9847154]Tommy Smith[/url] from the Kansas City River Cats in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9085117]Lindy Holman[/url].

KC was looking for a catcher to help them through this season and post season and perhaps a few years into the future. Atlanta was willing to move Holman to give opportunities to Jordan and Kane who have a lot longer to play in their careers. I was able to get Smith who is a project, but gives me more depth in my minor league pitching.

Best of luck to Holman and KC... once he gets off the DL, he should be a big boost going in the playoffs for the River Cats

I agree with spiderrtp's assessment. It is a win win trade.

Boston/Washington Blockbuster - 8/10/2046

July 17, 2012 at 02:09AM View BBCode

So as some of you had counseled me earlier this season my team at about the 1/3 mark decided to play to their capabilities and after a disappointing 20-20 start the Pops have gone 54-20, winning at a .700 clip. Yet that's not even good enough to catch KC so Boston decided to go "all in" and get the team set for a SERIOUS shot at another title. As such we picked up three very good "prime time" vets from Washington (a top of rotation starter, an All Star-caliber Catcher and a solid middle infielder), but in dong so pretty much mortgaged our future.

As they say, in for a penny, in for a pound!!!

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Washington Wiseguys. The Washington Wiseguys receive veteran OFer George Guillen, SP Hub McCorry plus prospects [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9659241]Al Walbeck[/url], [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9906473]Dusty Ortiz[/url], [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9784318]Bob Andrews[/url], [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9847204]Brian Nordyke[/url], Draft Pick - 2047 Round 1 (BOS) from the Boston Pops in exchange for SP [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9085141&statsorimps=imps]Alex Kittridge[/url], C [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9240695]Bill Carden[/url], 2B/SS [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9014262]Nerio Berra[/url]

Kampouris for Tennant, Guthrie, and a 1st Round Pick

6/15/2047

A trade has been completed between the New York Bad Gnus and the Cleveland Buckeyes. The Cleveland Buckeyes receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9847147]Chris Guthrie[/url], [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9847191]Eddie Tennant[/url], Draft Pick - 2048 Round 1 (NYN) from the New York Bad Gnus in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9085134]Bubba Kampouris[/url].

In 2046 the Bad Gnus surprised everyone in New York by contending for a playoff berth throughout most of the season before slipping to a third place finish. The current season again is developing into a hotly contested playoff race. Bubba's days in Cleveland were numbered; it was clear that the Cleveland management team wanted to obtain younger players with promise in exchange for Bubba.

The New York brain trust believes the playoff window of opportunity for the current squad is rather narrow. The addition of a top-notch starting pitcher should strengthen the starting rotation. Further, Bubba will look much better wearing a Gnus uniform and cap instead of those of another NL team. Hopefully the Gnus batters will continue to hit well and generate the run support that will enable Bubba to become a solid winner.

We sent what we believed to be an attractive, fair offer to Cleveland, one that we believed fit with their plans, hoping to close the deal quickly. In a couple of hours (or less), the offer was accepted.

Cleveland receives a starting pitcher prospect, Tennant, who should develop into a solid contributor. Guthrie is an infielder who has been developing very quickly. The first round amateur pick, hopefully a playoff pick :) , should also enable Cleveland to add a quality youngster.

Kampouris for prospects and a pick

August 07, 2012 at 06:32AM View BBCode

6/15/2047

A trade has been completed between the New York Bad Gnus and the Cleveland Buckeyes. The Cleveland Buckeyes receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9847147]Chris Guthrie[/url], [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9847191]Eddie Tennant[/url], Draft Pick - 2048 Round 1 (NYN) from the New York Bad Gnus in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9085134]Bubba Kampouris[/url].

After over three years on the block we finally got an offer that persuaded us to deal out Bubba Kampouris. A playoff pick way back in 2033 Bubba just hung around and got better and better until by this year he was a true top end SP. The Buckeyes, however, are a long way from being competitive and OS32 year old A SPs are much better as tools of acquistion when rebuilding so we dealt out Bubba.

In return we get [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9847191]Eddie Tennant[/url] who has a good chance to end up as, well Bubba Kampouris, we also get a suspect in [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9847147]Chris Guthrie[/url] and a 1st round pick.

I'll be honesty, I'm not in love with this deal as I think Guthrie is a long shot and Tennant is a long way away but it was better than anything else i was offered, though Atlanta and Boston were close.

At the end of the day I move an asset from the present to, hopefully, acquire assets for the future. The Buckeyes organization wishes Bubba all the best in the National league, he deserves it for sitting around for three years with a "For Sale" sign around his neck.

A trade has been completed between the Washington Wiseguys and the Boston Pops. The Boston Pops receive Reggie Hanyzewski, Jim Bancroft, Draft Pick - 2049 Round 2 (WAS) from the Washington Wiseguys in exchange for Cornelius Montecristo, Draft Pick - 2049 Round 1 (BOS)."

With a good number of young, developing pitchers, I needed to pick up a decent starting pitcher without breaking the bank. Seeing that Montecristo was more of a safety cog than a valuable contributor to the extremely deep Pops team, after a few back and forths, Boston and Washington were able to agree to the above trade, with Montecristo and next year's first round pick from Boston coming to Washington for former first round pick Jim Bancroft, who looks to be a promising young outfielder, and next year's second rounder, throwing in Hanyzewski. Boston figures to be a playoff first, and Washington will most likely be an earlier second rounder, so I move up a little in the draft with the trade. Montecristo is a good age for my team, as my hopes are that the young guys will continue their development and see a good amount of improvement in the next couple of years. The trade also gives Washington 2 first round picks in the '48 draft, and 2 firsts in the '49 draft, with the ability to make some more moves with the extra picks. As always, Boston proved to be a great, fair trading partner, and hopefully the move will benefit both teams.

I swear ABE is the devil incarnate. I hemmed and hawed on this deal for days with my biggest concern being losing the starting pitching depth [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9240688&mode=teams]Montecristo[/url] gave me. But I figured the value of adding some youth in the form of OF prospect [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9906433]Bancroft[/url] to my aging team and depleted farm system was too good to pass up so Washington and I closed the deal (I wasn't using Montecristo that much anyway).

And then the very next day my Ace goes down for 21 days (and of course Montecristo starts pitching like a Cy Young candidate).

ABE, really, I'm a decent guy raised from good stock. Why do you hate me so????????????? :puzzled::o:puzzled::o

P.S. Very good negotiations with Washington...and I also agree we ended in a good place for both teams. Cobra, I appreciate your patience with me!

A trade has been completed between the Washington Wiseguys and the Atlanta Crackers. The Atlanta Crackers receive Draft Pick - 2050 Round 2 (WAS) from the Washington Wiseguys in exchange for Mychal Powell."

As stated earlier, my rotation was terrible, but after adding Montecristo, I wanted to pick up another starting pitcher without giving up the farm. Atlanta had placed Powell on the trade block, and as a big part of successful Washington teams in the past, I figured he would help the rotation a good amount. Very quick negotiations with Atlanta, and both teams seemingly received what they wanted. Powell moves into the #2 spot in the rotation, allowing pitching prospect Jorge Rodriguez to move back to the minors after being prematurely moved up to the big league club. Once again, great negotiations.

A trade has been completed between the Brooklyn Gothams and the Baltimore Bay Dogs. Protest This Trade.

After an embarassing season, the Gothams had to improve their talent on the roster. In picking up Nelson and Bulgogi improved the bullpen and outfield with talent that is still in its prime.

Management also realized that one can not rebuild picking 12th, so it needs to ensure it does not suffer from loss penalties in the future.

Boston Trades

August 30, 2012 at 04:37AM View BBCode

The Boston Pops consummated 2 deals today, with the goals being seemingly contradictory.

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Kansas City River Cats. The Kansas City River Cats receive [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9659310]John Conlan[/url] from the Boston Pops in exchange for [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9085208]Pete Chafey.[/url]

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Washington Wiseguys. The Washington Wiseguys receive [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=8775260]Kimera Mabe[/url] from the Boston Pops in exchange for [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9659309]Noe Kavanagh[/url], [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9906447]Candy Jones[/url]

Pops management made available the following press release:

In an effort to bring another title back to Beantown the Pops have dealt promising 1B/OF prospect John Conlan to Kansas City for 2x All Star power hitting OFer Pete Chafey. As of this writing Chafey is 7th in the league in slugging % and 8th in OPS.

In addition, Boston closed on a deal with Washington that sends veteran spot starter/RP Kimera Mabe to the Wiseguys in exchange for two pitching prospects.

The Chafey deal is for the present and is squarely focused on winning a title NOW. Conlan will be a very good player for a decade or so but wasn't ready for prime time yet. Conversely, we feel our pitching depth is deep enough that we could afford to deal Mabe for a potential future pitcher (or two). Neither Kavanagh or Jones are sure things...if one makes it to The Show we'll be happy...if both make it that will be a very pleasant surprise.

Looking at the River Cats dismal start this season, the front office decided that this may well be the time to get younger. Conlan gives the team a first class prospect who will get a great deal of playing time, with a solid veteran outfield to back him up if necessary. We are giving up Pete Chafey, an excellent power hitting OF, who should help Boston's playoff chances considerably. We wish Pete well with his new team.

5/12/2048 - Behney to Boston for Youth

September 01, 2012 at 12:57AM View BBCode

A trade has been completed between the Montreal Expats and the Boston Pops. The Boston Pops receive Hap Behney from the Montreal Expats in exchange for Cy Greengrass, Donnie Eubank

I don't think I've ever had a more timely trade offer than this one! No sooner had rock-solid reliever [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9085118]Buck "Nell" Quantrill[/url] gone down with a 17 day bursa sac injury then Montreal came calling with a counter offer for veteran SP [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=8937763]Hap Behney[/url] (who we had been pursuing for a few days). I barely read what Montreal wanted while hitting "accept" as he is EXACTLY what the doctor ordered (given the Quantrill injury). I was actually in the process of shopping around for another arm.

In exchange Montreal gets 2 prospects:

RP [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9659317]Cy Greengrass[/url], who was immediately promoted to the big club and 2nd round draft pick C [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=10049130]Donnie Eubank[/url].

Given Behney's age Montreal really didn't take much risk on this deal. For me I'm expecting a solid year this year from Hap...and maybe one more after that? Conversely, if Greengrass converts to A+ control (very possible) he could be a decent pitcher for a number of seasons while Eubank has some power potential if he can convert his power ratings to red letter over the next few developmental seasons.

I get help now (with a declining vet)...Montreal may pick up a quality player (or two) over the next 3-4 seasons.

Two trades pulled off by the Crackers. After 3 trips to the playoffs and never getting out of the 1st round, along with Cincinnati going in to rebuild we figured now was a good time to make a move or two...

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Atlanta Crackers. The Atlanta Crackers receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9085151]John Ward[/url] from the Boston Pops in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9784317]Buster Ortiz[/url], [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9906446]Billy Wilson[/url]

A chance to pick up an everyday CF was too good to pass up. After watching Niekro struggle all season last year and barely hit .225 the Crackers needed someone reliable. Neikro will now move to the bench to be a pinch hitter and spot starter/depth. Two youngsters go back to Boston, Ortiz to get some playing time now and Wilson that will go to the minors. Atlanta wishes them good luck in Boston.

A trade has been completed between the Cincinnati Cobras and the Atlanta Crackers. The Atlanta Crackers receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9085158]Ducky Corcoran[/url] from the Cincinnati Cobras in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9426196]Junie Krug[/url], [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9847156]Morgan Rachunok[/url]

Another chance to upgrade in pursuit of playoff success. 8 time all-star catcher Corcoran comes to Atlanta to man the tools of ignorance. This will put Jordan and Kane into reserve/backup roles where they are more suited to play. Corcoran brings experience and power to a Crackers lineup in need of power. In return Krug goes to Cincinnati along with very promising shortstop prospect Rachunok.

Jack Wade to the Rusty Nails for a pick

A trade has been completed between the Cleveland Buckeyes and the Chicago Rusty Nails. The Chicago Rusty Nails receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9370547]Jack Wade[/url] from the Cleveland Buckeyes in exchange for Draft Pick - 2050 Round 2 (CHA).

I feel kind of bad about Jack Wade, when we were contending he wasn't quite good enough to get regular at bats, and then by the time he got his contact up to an acceptable level we were rebuilding so he never really got many chances in Cleveland.

After a brief discussion with Atlanta at the end of last season we offered Jack up to the other contenders for a 2nd round pick and Chicago pulled the trigger. At 33 Jack has prodigious power but not a lot of time left on the clock, still last season was the first time he was ever given more than 400 plate appearances and he responded with 23 bombs and a slugging % just under .500 so he should help the Rusty Nails in their bid to get to the playoffs and I get a, likely, playoff 2nd round pick.

We wish Jack all the best in Chicago .

Elders and Kittridge for Five Prospects

"4/1/2049

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Washington Wiseguys. The Washington Wiseguys receive Alex Kittridge, Raul Elders from the Boston Pops in exchange for Floyd McGovern, Alex Bowden, Brian Nordyke, Merlin Knackert, Juan Lanahan."

When Boston announced that everyone would be available, Elders became our target immediately. He's been a highly sought after pitcher by Washington for some time now, dating back to his days in the minors. Given the chance, we couldn't miss out again on the 27-year-old ace lefty.
Kittridge was also a very important part of the trade on my end, as he'll make his return to Washington where he started his career, and take over as the third starter.
The pitchers wouldn't be cheap, Washington gives up 5 prospects. McGovern is an older RP prospect, but improving well. He was expendable as we had no place to put him. Bowden is a promising 24 year old SP prospect with very good control. Nordyke is a toss up prospect, but could turn into a good player. Knackert seems to be destined to punish RHP. Lanahan was the final piece to the trade. Lanahan should turn into a star, and was definitely the hardest player in the deal to let go.

Overall, acquiring the two starting pitchers moves two developing pitchers out of the rotation and into the bullpen, strengthening what was the worst aspect of the team last year, in hopes of being competitive this year.

The Pops were serious about accelerating their rebuild. Washington came after [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9487353]Elders[/url] hard and when they finally added OF prospect [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9487353]Lanahan[/url] to the mix I decided to pull the switch. With his A+ health and current skills I have high hopes for Lanahan being an All-Star caliber player. We are also bullish on SP [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9906405]Alex Bowden[/url] and his A- control. OFer [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9784362]Merlin Knackert[/url] has promise as a "righty-killer" and could get to A+/A+ (tho he will struggle against lefties)...regardless he projects to being in The Show soon. We then got two players with potential (IF they continue to improve) in 3B [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9847204]Nordyke[/url], who at a minimum will provide some punch against righties, and RP [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9726930]Floyd McGovern[/url].

So I expect three regulars to come out of this deal and hope that the other two players develop into regulars.

BTW, good luck to Washington. This deal REALLY helps their playoff chances!

A trade has been completed between the Chicago Rusty Nails and the Texas Hamiltonians. The Texas Hamiltonians receive Bruce Roth, Draft Pick - 2050 Round 1 (CHA) from the Chicago Rusty Nails in exchange for Kenny Milosevich, Mike Paul. Protest This Trade.

Well, I had been in the league for just over 24 hours of real time. I had to do something! LOL

I think that [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9784349]Bruce Roth[/url] will turn into a contributing utility player with very nice baserunning and he is a better option than many of the others on this team under 25.

The 1st round pick is nice with system 3 minors. I'm almost bound to get some value from that.

I gave up a useful backend SP in [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9659220]Milosevich[/url] but his career ERA of greater than 5.00 isn't going to be missed too terribly here (we have a lot of guys who can pitch that poorly!) and the veteran hitter that we lost was sitting in my minors getting older.

I think that it adds some solid roster depth to a CHA team that is trying to find magic in a bottle one more time before renewal and it is a solid move for the future for the Hamiltonians.

My very mediocre start this season suggested to me that my chances of grabbing the brass ring this time around were slim at best. So I've decided to get younger. While I hated to give up Mouton and especially Carson, I think Monahan could develop into one of the top pitchers in the league, while Maddox and Erickson each have A+ power on both sides and are young enough to pick up the contact improves that will make them solid additions to my starting lineups. I think it's a win win trade that helps Detroit contend and helps me start my rebuild.

Agreed. Oral will be a top pitcher. He's only OS 25 and he's
26 -12 with a 3.51 ERA. I've already seen him pitch a few 12 K CG 2 hitters. It pains me to see him wear KC green.

He may not become Mueller-like but I suspect he'll put up some pretty good numbers. Well, it is with a heavy heart that Boston ships Ace SP [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9309181]Steve "Ferris" Mueller[/url] off to New York.

I'm happy with "3 pieces" in return, though the deal sealer was getting [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=9659249]Cody Randolph[/url]. He may not become Mueller-like but I suspect he'll put up some pretty good numbers. And if either RPers [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=10049084]Biemiller[/url] or [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=10049082]Castillo[/url] turn into solid major-leaguers I'll be happy with this deal.

I'll let Tim speak for his team but I think Mueller gives him a REALLY good shot to now be the team to beat in the NL.

After winning 105 games and the World Series in 2047, the Bad Gnus won 99 games and finished fourth. I never imagined a team in the BHL would win 99 games and finish fourth, but it happened. For the entire 2048 season, we felt as though we were swimming upstream. We just did not have enough talent, or good fortune, or something to win more games than two of the three other very strong teams in the race. This season, the race has developed into a three team race and it appears as though no team will catch the Crackers. Gnus Nation does not want to see their beloved team miss the playoffs again.

So the Bad Gnus management team decided to bolster the starting rotation by adding another premier starter. As [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=4868663]Juvenal Urbino[/url], Hall of Fame pitcher and former pitching coach for the Gnus, used to say before his untimely death in 2047, "you can never have enough good pitching." Mueller is in his prime. Hopefully he will be just what we need to secure another playoff berth, or two, or three, and win another World Series.

We hated to part with young Cody Randolph. Last season, he was called up in June to replace an injured starter. He quickly became a fan favorite by winning 12 consecutive decisions and, at one point, hurling 28 consecutive innings of shutout ball. He almost single-handedly saved the season for the Gnus. He was brilliant. He should develop into a fine pitcher for the Pops.

As Chuck wrote, Castillo and Biemiller each could develop into quality relief pitchers. They have been developing well in the Bad Gnus minor league system pitching for AAA affiliate Cooperstown. If the Pops coaches are worth their salt, they should be able to continue developing the two youngsters.

We hope this swap is a win-win for both clubs.

Becker and a first for the first overall pick

A trade has been completed between the Cleveland Buckeyes and the St. Louis Golden Arches. The St. Louis Golden Arches receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9980631]Walter Becker[/url], Draft Pick - 2051 Round 1 (CLE) from the Cleveland Buckeyes in exchange for Draft Pick - 2051 Round 1 (STL).

When Sam expressed an interest in possibly moving the first overall pick I was immediately interested, the lottery had dropped me down one spot to ninth and I really saw the draft as having five players that I really liked, and then a bunch that I could live with.

Sam expressed an interest in pitching and my minor league stable was pretty well stocked so the dance began. I offered, Sam countered, I countered again and the deal was done.

I'm giving up a very, very good prospect in Becker, he's OS24, major league ready and may end up with low SP endurance, plus I'm giving up the ninth overall pick which should yield something of good value for Sam . In return I will draft a 17 year old with great power and reasonable contact who should have a chance to make A overall in [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?mode=player&playername=nobody&id=10206636]Travis McGee[/url] but I'm going to have to wait awhile before he helps my team and with variable improvements there is always a gamble there, but one I was willing to take.
