Shotgun Pigs

I'm a bit distressed about the overuse, right now, and lack of defense against, the Shotgun formation.
I'm in the Barry Sanders, a pay league, not the freebies. It's an entirely different animal. I say this to preclude all the meatheads who are going to respond, "You need a better secondary!"
The Slot Receiver is well-nigh unstoppable right now. Depending on the Speed, Agility, this receiver will consistently gash opposing offenses.
Take this guy, a RB, that I used exclusively in the Slot and, due to his Stamina, only played him there:

And in the Sim Bowl of '75, he caught 10-230-2.
Now, the difference is, I didn't piggishly overuse the Shotgun, to the degree I'm seeing in this League and a long-standing Free League I'm in. I used Shotgun on 3rd and Long, sometimes 2nd and Long.
I see owners running Shotgun almost exclusively, and dominating with it. On the one hand, it makes for an identity for some teams; they are all-throw all the time. You know who they are, change your defensive scheme. But I keep seeing a distinct advantage to the Shotgun that wasn't quite as pronounced before. No one can stop a good Shotgun team completely, but then NFL teams don't run Shotgun exclusively (unlike College) because the Shotgun is a risk-reward passing formation. The QB has a little more time to scan and more receivers to throw to, but if he's sacked the team is ten yards in the hole.
As of now, I'm not seeing many times my defenses can get to a Shotgun QB. And I always run good defenses, not to toot my horn. But whether you're blitzing or zoning, or however the approach, I don't see much in the way of defending the Shotgun even marginally.
You can run a Defensive scheme of a lot of 4-2-5, just like in the real world, but pretty much any team in the Sim can run a**loads of Shotgun with mediocre players and be competitive. It's almost as bad as the people who throw Short on every down. The difference is that receivers will rarely drop passes in the Shotgun.
The worst example I can come up with was in the Free League, a game in which I did run out some poor DBs admittedly, but no chance should this have happened:

617 yds given up, 7 TDs, and roughly 20 broken/missed tackles. And that's no exaggeration. A great QB and a bunch of okay receivers made mincemeat out of my defense, in a humiliating fashion.
Anyone having problems? And how are you defending the Shotgun Pigs?

I am one of those that runs this strategy exclusiviley.
You can play the 4-2-5 by playing Short or Deep Zone. However, its easy to combat this by playing Medium Shotgun, and I'll either throw over your head when you play Short, or throw underneath when you play deep. Then add the dodging and breaking tackles and you can see how I can rack up the yards.
The best Defense I've seen is running Man-To-Man, playing a Corner at FS, and a Safety at MLB. This cuts down on broken/dodged tackles, and it seems the CB at FS plays Man-To-Man with the Slot Receiver, but this is off perception based on plays from the Game Log. Its also good to throw in some Deep Zones and Balanced Runs to keep Offenses honest.
