30 CB have a Best Role of FS
5 S have a Best Role of CB

So this isn't terrible. Only 6 LB have Best Roles that aren't LB positions. The problem though is that they still have better ratings at other positions than players naturally in those positions.
So no solution yet, just collecting data.

Fixing out of position players

I'm working on the issue of out of position players. Here's a count of active players in Gamma who have "inappropriate" Best Roles:30 CB have a Best Role of FS
5 S have a Best Role of CB
4 LB have a Best Role of DE
3 G have a Best Role of C
3 G have a Best Role of RT
2 C have a Best Role of RT
2 LB have a Best Role of FS
2 RB have a Best Role of RT
2 RB have a Best Role of TE
1 G have a Best Role of LT
1 TE have a Best Role of FB
1 TE have a Best Role of WR

I made some adjustments at LB, SS, FS, and CB to try and counter this, and generated a new league. The new league's out of position players are:11 CB have a Best Role of FS
5 G have a Best Role of RT
5 LB have a Best Role of DE

3 S have a Best Role of OLB
2 DE have a Best Role of SS
2 LB have a Best Role of FS

1 LB have a Best Role of SS
1 RB have a Best Role of C
1 RB have a Best Role of RT

OK, I've got these numbers looking a lot better. Still some overlap between CB and FS but that's not so outlandish. Analysing the rating distributions now.--Chris

Obviously, K, P and KR should stay as Best Roles.

Is there any possibility that we can remove the special teams positions from the Best Role list? I doubt that anyone goes into the draft to pick-up GUN, KRB, H, LS or HT. Those positions are added bonus and an opportunity to get rookies some playing time.Obviously, K, P and KR should stay as Best Roles.

Certain special teams roles are excluded because they involve few skills and are thus easy to have a high grade in, such as HT and KOS. I'm on the edge of taking out H because pretty much any QB can fill that role well so you don't need t go looking for one.

The whole point of Best Role in the first place was to point out potential special teams players when looking at, say, the waiver wire so you don't have to go poking through each player individually to find someone who could fill those roles well.Certain special teams roles are excluded because they involve few skills and are thus easy to have a high grade in, such as HT and KOS. I'm on the edge of taking out H because pretty much any QB can fill that role well so you don't need t go looking for one.

Maybe to still accomplish your initial goal we could have Best Role and Second-Best Role. This would help owners easily find a WR who might not be quite as good as a guy currently on his roster at WR, but who is better at GUN, KR, KRB, etc.
