Congrats to Chicago for their 4 game sweep of the defending NL champs...
I guess it was a mistake to throw my last 2 games of the season so you'd make it into the playoffs instead of the Milwaukee! Live & learn!
Represent us well in the World Series!

It is very disturbing to me when someone admits to "throwing games". I also don't understand why one would prefer to play Chicago and not Milwaukee in the LCS.
Since this claim is now public record for all league members to see, I would like to make a few observations. Down the stretch, in their last 12 games, Milwaukee went 4-8 while Chicago finished 9-3 including a three game series sweep over Milwaukee. Chicago's final three games were against Pittsburgh at home and they had a one game lead over Milwaukee in the wild card race. Each team went 2-1 in their final series' respectfully, advancing Chicago to the playoffs.
In the last two supposedly tainted contests, games 161 and 162, Pittsburgh used the exact same lineup that it used in the first three LCS playoff games against Chicago. I have to believe that they were trying to win in the LCS. In game 161 Pittsburgh started an A- relief pitcher, James Todd Smith, and lost 8-7. Their number one starter pitched the last two innings. It's no big surprise to do this if you are trying to set up your rotation for the playoffs and already had first place won by 10 games. In game 162 Pittsburgh started their number two starter, Ernest Anastasio, a B+ starter, and lost 6-4.
I fail to see where these games were "thrown" and must conclude that Chicago won their playoff spot on merit and then won the LCS against Pittsburgh in the same fashion.

Not starting Chuck Cornell in game 161?
Hello................
Had to rest him for the playoffs!

Cornell pitched the final two innings of game 161 in relief. Therefore you didn't do a very good job of resting him.
Hello!!
I will not have anymore to say on this matter. The box scores are there for all league members to see.
Chicago earned their way into the playoffs and no one gave them a free ride.

Hey, congratulations Chicago on your WS win - despite unfortunate claims of tanking to face you, you proved your team was strong enough to win a title. Good for you.

If I wanted to win that game, I would have started Cornell.
In hindsight, big mistake! Congrats on the WS win.

If you look at my line-ups, I moved all of my stud vets to the bottom of the order for games 161 and 162.
I moved Andre Young and Domino to the front of my line-up for the last 2 games.
Not a big deal... but the evidence was there.
I moved Cornell to Relief B... and he still got into the game! Frustrating!

I just don't like seeing someone claim to throw games, is all. In MLB, that's the kind of thing that gets one banned.
Whatever. I'm done with this thread and likely this league when the re-up comes around. Congrats again Chicago and good luck to all in 1952.

I'm not sure that the changing of your lineup order would have a huge effect on things. I remember hearing that MIT did a study a few years back taking batters game by game, inning by inning stats and shuffling the hitters around several different ways in the batting order. Some games that were won ended up being lost and some that were lost ended up being won, but in the end the teams wound up with approximately the same record.
That's something hard to faith into, but who am I to argue with a bunch of MIT grads. One at a time maybe, but not a group of them ;).
In real life you have players who simply hit better in certain places in the lineup for whatever reason. And of course you want your higher OBP guys to bat first because the top of the order will typically get one more at bat than the bottom of the order in most games.
All that aside, the fact that someone made moves to purposely lose games with the thought of helping one team get into the playoffs as opposed to another is rather disturbing to me. In all likelyhood these moves didn't have a great effect on things, but that's besides the point. I'm going to have to think about what to do here and discuss it some with Tyson.

As said previously via u2u to Admin, Jet, I will gladly leave the MRL. I've been asking for the opportunity to do so. Please read the U2U and get back to me.
Much appreciated. I wish everyone the best!

After discussing this for awhile with Tyson and weighing everything we decided it would be best to remove this owner from the league for cheating. While we understand the desire to play what one perceives as a weaker team in the playoffs, to lose games on purpose to further that goal is not acceptable. It's not simply that doing so would benefit his team as much as it was unfair to Milwaukee.
These actions prevented Milwaukee from having a fair chance at making the playoffs. They had every right to that opportunity and were robbed of it through means that were outside of normal playing conditions.
Sadly nothing we can do at this point would make up for Kenton's lost opportunity. If you want, we can look at changing last seasons standings so that Pittsburgh is moved into 3rd place. But it is just too late to do anything about the results of the playoffs.
Thanks,
