Trade advice in the Dennis Eckersley League

August 20, 2007 at 08:53PM View BBCode

I need your help with this trade offer. This is a Private or Speed League

I have been offered:
1972 Draft Pick Rd 2(NYN)
1972 Draft Pick Rd 1(NYN)

I would give up:

1972 Draft Pick Rd 1(CIN)

Thanks for the help.

And he wants 10 cps for the 1972 season.

I'm not sure where I want to go.

If I picked #1 it would be between these 3

http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?mode=player&playername=nobody&id=4000710
http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?mode=player&playername=nobody&id=4000629
http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?mode=player&playername=nobody&id=4000546

and to me I would go with Eibel.

So I'm giving up either the 13th or 14th pick, an outfielder that is quite good, though I have other outfielders/2 prospects, and 10 cps for #1 and #17, and then I'd have to develop this kid for 5 years.

Thoughts?

So you acquire two good picks, but trade away ten CP, so you can only develop one player in your minors? Not sure that makes good sense.

I don't know how CP get valued in your league, but in the leagues I'm in where it's allowed, 5 CP = 2nd round pick; 10 CP = 1st round pick. So you're giving up the equivalent of two firsts plus Marquis for a #1 overall and a high, but worthless 17th overall. I think that's a little steep. The second draft choice I consider useless if you have no CP left to develop the player you pick.

Being able to afford it still doesn't make it fair value. If he wants the ten CP, then he should be willing to give you fair value for them. I think that Marquis, your #1, and 5 CP is probably fair.

Your #1 and his #2 are pretty nearly a wash. So, what do you give up besides Marquis for his #1 overall? I think Marquis and 5 CP is a fair offer.

Marquis is not a #1 overall in most drafts, but he is a young, skilled player, with good health, and he's ML-ready. The guy who's acquiring will have to invest precisely ZERO CP in Marquis. He'll have a young, skilled player in his lineup immediately.
