Thanks for any and all help you guys can give.
How old is too old to be any good as far as prospects goes?
Not sure I should trade for anyone older than 20 unless they are already decent.

It should be noted that my team is old and I am trying to rebuild...I have littel chance at this point to win a WS anytime soon.

Prospects who are 21 and younger should, generally, be in the minor leagues. Players continue to develop until they are 27 or so, depending on their skill level but generally should be major leaguers by their OS23 year.

Positional players who are high B or B+ overall can come up at 20 or 21 but their improves will be lower at the major league level. Still it's often worthwhile to bring up a 20 year old stud, who will convert less chances wherever he is, and free up minor league coaching points.

Health is a consideration for where a player develops, poor health (C or worse) players are better off in the minors as they don't miss games in the minors. On the major league level improvement chances are tied to plate appearances so low health players miss out on some improvement chances.

As for this offer remember 3rd round picks are a crapshoot and Willis' health is a concern for his development - he wasn't a 4th round pick for nothing.

Willis had B power vs both L and R's. I thought Power trumped all else. Also, the SS prospect has C power, so I assumed he was much weaker.

It seems all of my trade offers have been 'not quite good enough.' Cory, make a counter offer that you deem more fair.

Looking at your team, I thought to myself, 'I would do that trade if I were in your shoes due to your SS prospect depth and your age.' Just my two cents.

EDIT: I also noticed that you traded a SP mentor for just a 2nd round pick. I thought this trade offered much more than that. Will you do that pitcher straight up for a 2nd rounder???

I'm less inclined to trade because this pitcher is way better than that other one I guess.
The one I traded before was a mentor but not very good otherwise.
Well at least as far as I thought anyway.
I am a lil more reluctant to give up this guy because I now have two 25 or younger pitchers in my starting rotation.
They are pretty good and being a good mentor he can help them out.
I'm not sure what the pros think yet but I think I'll hold out for a little better than just a 2nd round pick.

I know I over paid for the mentor but I couldn't pry anyone away from some teams. Everyone knew I had no mentoring & there was no mentoring on the waiver wire so the price went up. Supple & demand! I also have a very young team w/ alot of minors to mentor so the #2 was no big deal. The #1 pick is my make or break pick.
