I added a percentage to the player card for each Alt Pos. This should help people figure out when guys hit the "wall".October 30, 2003 at 04:35PM View BBCode
Hmm... I'm not sure I like it. No coach or scout could be that precise about a player's ability. The letter scores give us an idea of the player's competency without giving us exact enough numbers to Min/Max the game.October 30, 2003 at 04:47PM View formatted

Will this solve the issues that are going on with changing my SS into an RF?October 30, 2003 at 05:52PM View BBCode
No. But it would have provided more information for us to analyze that particular problem.October 31, 2003 at 01:27AM View BBCode
Are we getting to precise with how measured everything is? We now know how much each player improved over the offseason and now we know exactly how much a player has increased his skill level in particular positions? We're eliminating all the grey area that makes the game seem a little more random. Granted some of this stuff saves the SD crew some time because they don't have to check on all of the complaints and questions but it's taking some of the randomness out of the game.October 31, 2003 at 01:34PM View BBCode
Yeah, this worries me, too. If anything, I think we should be going the other direction by making ratings less precise. I'd actually like to eliminate the plusses and minuses from the player ratings so that there would only be 5 grades for each rating: A, B, C, D or F. This would certainly make looking at a player's actual performance much more important.October 31, 2003 at 02:43PM View BBCode
I totally agree with Bob. The game needs more ambiguity not less to make it more realistic.October 31, 2003 at 02:59PM View BBCode
I don't think it really matters if you know how good a guy is at his alt position. The out of position penalty is so complex, even with the percentage you can't compare him to another guy. The percentage is how close he is to that becoming his natural position. It also weighs into the out of position calculation, but arm, range, and how far out of position also weigh in. Remember, a guy that is a SS and is a C at 2B will be better there than a guy who is a LF who is a C at 2B.I agree, this has always bothered me.
Futher, the ability to sort on a particular rating already cripples the effectiveness of masking the actual numerical rating with a letter grade. If you are so inclined, you can pretty much figure out a guy's exact numerical rating by sorting on a category and seeing where he falls in the list.
