The greatest show in television returns from a looooooooooooong two-year hiatus on September 10. Even Simmons gets in on the act in his column today - although he's 4 years behind, I give him credit for finally discovering it. Discuss.September 01, 2006 at 06:17PM View BBCode
What show returns on Sept 10?September 01, 2006 at 06:22PM View BBCode
Deadwood bores the shit out of me, although I can understand why people like it. You're on the right track though, and no, it's not "Earl". "The Office" is quite a bit better than "Earl" anyway.September 01, 2006 at 06:25PM View BBCode
Looked it up, and it appears it's something known as "The Wire."September 01, 2006 at 06:32PM View BBCode
It's on HBO. Unless you are literally never home (like, for instance, you choose to sleep in a dumpster instead of your own bed), it comes on at some point when you are home. For the love of all things holy, if you like good TV and you have HBO, I command each and every one of you to watch it. It is better than The Sopranos (especially now, since the last season of The Sopranos s-u-q-u-e-d), better than Deadwood, better than Big Love (which had a very strong rookie season), better even than Lost or 24 or any of those cookie-cutter procedurals that take up so much of the valuable airtime of the networks. It is better than 10 Super Bowls. Watch it.September 01, 2006 at 06:49PM View BBCode
I had that line in my head because I just watched that episode on the season 8 DVD last night.September 01, 2006 at 06:57PM View BBCode
It won't be better than 24, but I just got cable so I can actually watch it now I guess...September 01, 2006 at 07:02PM View BBCode
It is better, and it will continue to be better. That is not to impugn 24, a fine show. But 'tis no Wire.September 01, 2006 at 08:03PM View BBCode
The only thing I've done at home recently is check my teams before bed.September 01, 2006 at 08:04PM View BBCode
Isn't The Wire about urban life? I dont think I need to watch some Liberal Pinko commie show tell me the white man keeps the Brother man down.September 01, 2006 at 08:09PM View BBCode

In other news, Squidbillies is making a second season appearance itself beginning September 19th.September 01, 2006 at 08:21PM View BBCode
Well, ignoring the use of the verb "stold"....I have no idea if that happened on The Wire. I guess it could have happened, but I have no specific memory of it. Then again, if it did happen, and you reduced an entire episode in your mind to that capsule, maybe you won't like the show. I'm pretty sure that about 85-90% of the people who watch The Sopranos couldn't care less about the underlying ideas of the show and just want to see people get whacked in more and more creative ways. If you watch The Wire and you reduce it to "some drug dealers and stuff" then maybe you're right, and you should just stick to safe network programming and shows that use the term "cocksucker" ad nauseum.September 01, 2006 at 08:38PM View BBCode
LOL I did not mean thats what the episode was about. It was a small event in the episode. But like I said, I'll watch 3 episodes. Besides I think my roommate is a big fan of the wire. I will ask him latter, I he is then I will have to say it might be good. Aside from his sick ablility to watch "driving Force" over and over he has pretty good taste in shows.September 01, 2006 at 08:39PM View formatted

It was actually 15 days short of being gone for one year. I speak of course of Family Guy, the true best show on TV. September 10, 9:00 ET on FOX, not some piece of shnick on HBO.
