With the Braves losing 23 of thier last 29 games and sliding to 14.5 games behing the NL leading Mets heading into thier weekend series with the orioles in which they will see Leo Mazzone sitting in the Visitor's Dugout in Atlanta for the first time in 16 years one has to think that this streak is over. I mean the bullpen has blown 16 of 32 save opportunties this year, Smoltz has been the only consistent member of the rotation and he's had 6 of his gems blown out by the bullpen. Their leadoff hitter has a sub-.325 OBP, the Jones boys are struggling and the only player on thier team who seems to be able to consistently hit the ball is thier sohpmore catcher Brian McCann at 353. The only other player on the team hitting .300 is Edgar Renterria who is one ground-out from being under .300. They also have 6 regular starters in the top 37 in Strikeouts for the NL. The only regs not in the top 40 are Renterria and McCann, both of whome have missed games due to injury this year...June 30, 2006 at 08:48PM View BBCode

That noise you hear in Atlanta is the dead air of apathy.July 01, 2006 at 04:51AM View BBCode
Braves will turn it around....<cough>actully the rest of that league will roll over once again and the braves will win it.July 01, 2006 at 06:19AM View BBCode
Except for 94, when the expos took it in the short yearJuly 06, 2006 at 09:41PM View BBCode
I honestly still think they have a chance to be in there for the Wild Card but that is more of a testament to the horrid NL than the braves...July 07, 2006 at 12:56AM View BBCode

Well if you remove the 3 Div Leaders they are 7 Games back with 8 Teams ahead of them. The Current NL WC Standings are like this:July 19, 2006 at 04:46PM View BBCode
Braves win 7 straight, have score 65 runs in the 5 games since the break, and are now 4 games out of first.July 19, 2006 at 04:53PM View BBCode
You mean 11.5 games out of first. Let's not confuse the wild card race with the N.L. East, which the Mets control quite comfortably. The wild card is not the same as a 15th division title.July 19, 2006 at 06:13PM View BBCode
How ironic it would be if the Braves took the wild card, went to the World Series, and then, actually won it. And with a roster full of true hometown heros. If this were anywhere besides NY, LA, Chicago and Atlanta, that would be a good story...July 19, 2006 at 06:17PM View formatted

They've had to hit like the Murderer's Row Yankees just to be mentioned in the same breath as the playoffs. It won't last.July 21, 2006 at 03:00PM View BBCode
The funny thing is that you almost sound as if them hitting like the Murderers Row Yankees is a bad thing...July 21, 2006 at 03:05PM View BBCode
I hope you enjoyed the 96 and 99 World Series as much as I did.July 26, 2006 at 02:21PM View BBCode
91 and 92 were my favorite world series of all time, I hate the Yankees.July 31, 2006 at 03:53PM View BBCode
*sigh...July 31, 2006 at 03:58PM View BBCode
One might reasonably assume that every series for the Braves is now "crutial" since they are 6 and a half games out of any sort of postseason spot and behind 8 other teams.
