Player Development

If it says (X-player) is not responding to coaching in speed or something like that, does that mean they WON'T improve?

No, even a player with A+ in something has a chance to improve. Assuming they aren't at the max A+. Lots of things play a factor in it. You should read the rules on minor league improvements and the message thread link attached to it to get the numbers. I have a guy who started the season at A+ in our league (Adair) in range. He's gotten 3 improves in it and no failures. But on other guys who have various stats that are A- and above I've gotten 7 improve chances with no improves. Just bad rolls/lucky roll on the one guy.

Check out a post about the math behind the coaching points in 'Other Comments.' I think it's under 'Suggested Improvements'.

That's what I was talking about. There is a link to it in the rules now. Easiest way to find it...

I see where the players improve in arm, power, etc.., but how about health? Can they improve in health?

I wish, as far as I know there is no health improvements. You can lose health on pitchers by overplaying the ones who are 27 and younger. Every 10 innings over 200 and 100 for RP will cause them to lose some health. I don't know how much, maybe only a point or a few each time. Remember that there are several points which make up a letter grade change. Also changing a RP into a starting pitcher may cause him to lose some health.

My pitching staff, a collection of stiffs, is barely breathing now, I was hoping they can improve. Thanks for the info.

Ya, the pitching depth of this league is really really crappy. And mine keep getting hurt. I had one guy go down right away for 30 games. Then a couple games after he comes back my stud closer who was leading the fireman votes and the AL allstar RP's goes down for 33 days. And he has B health. It's already cost me at least 2 or 3 games where other people have blown saves.

My pitchers have stayed healthy so far, but I have three starters with D/D- health. I have lost one slugger twice to injuries and had two sluggers out at the same time. With my pitching staff, I need to score 8 runs minimum to win. Unless my ace is pitching, then I need to score 5 runs. :)

Yea, It's like, everybody went into a slump at once or everybody has been hot up to now. (I don't know which) But this league is really competitive and that's good.
I sure am learning what I want out of the next seasons draft.
