Move to new server scheduled this week

April 24, 2006 at 03:31PM View BBCode

As [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/oldforum-viewthread.jsp?tid=100396]already announced[/url], we are planning a move to a new server. This will require some substantial downtime, but we have scheduled this to provide the most possible service possible.

On Wednesday, starting around 10PM Eastern Time, the Sim Dynasty site will not be available. We will be moving our database to a new server. We hope to have everything back up and running by 2AM.

During those hours, the game site will be unavailable and all league games, offseasons, drafts, etc. will not take place. For any leagues that have games or other events scheduled for these times, we will be posting a makeup schedule for you in your league message board.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but hope this will continue to allow us to serve you better. Thank you!

Quick update for anyone who's around tonight.

Most everything is moved over to the new server. Some of the big items are still struggling along. I've set up everything else that I need to, so its just a waiting game now. I'm not sure how long it will take to finish at this point.

Getting much closer. Just a little more data to move. I think we should be back up in the next 30 minutes or so.

A word about this. Anytime we rebuild the database or move the database, there may be some performance issues out of the gate. In the long-run this will be a much better way to go, but we might have some periods of slowness over the first few days as we get things running.

The site is back up and running. Please let me know if you find any problems.

I'm going to be getting the games going again shortly.

I'm experiencing some Cecil Fielder with a hamstring injury slowness trying to go from one page to another.

Me too. The Bob Gibson offseason quit half way through.

The league events are taking too long to run at the moment - games, offseasons, etc. There are some other issues with slowness as well due to database configuration.

I will be working on this today. Thanks for your patience.

The speed is unbearably slow this am.....

The problem seems to be due to the league games taking too long - there are too many leagues trying to run games at the moment.

I'm going to take the site completely offline until these games finish.

feel free to postpone the Bob Gibson private league amateur draft as well if that helps. . . I know alot of my guys will be looking to make draft ranking changes today so they won't get that upset if that draft happens tonight instead of this morning. .

Ok, the 4 leagues that were trying to run games are finished. The single season games from 4AM are still running. I brought the site back up for the moment and am investigating.

You are viewing the raw post code; this allows you to copy a message with BBCode formatting intact.
Thanks - I am going to postpone your draft for the moment so I can look into that OffSeason issue first.

In the Bob Gibson Offseason, ABE finished all of the older players and seemed to have gotten stuck after a doing only a couple of young players.

There are a couple teams inthe Bob Gibson League claiming zero improves. . . I told them that we will be postponing this draft until the O/S is figured out and possibly re-run. .

Thanks Tyson

Now that I think about it, the Moonlight Graham private league also had an O/S run. . . I haven't checked in on my O/S there but I would suspect it had the same difficulty as the Bob Gibson League. . FYI

MGL runs its draft so late - hopefully I can have it figured out before then.

Having a lot of trouble as you probably know. Can't get to disabled page. Most pages are taking minutes if they will load at all.

Funny though. The Beta pages run fine.

Beta is running with a different setup and with no games running.

The site seems okay at the moment - a bit sluggish. I've run some tests and think I know what is causing this - I will be posting an update shortly.

I'm running a test right now. After it finishes, I'm going to take the site back offline so that the games that are running right now can finish.

I don't know if the issue is with my computer or the server but I was able to watch a game at normal speed but with none of the batter or pitching stats showing up

As I noted, it might be my computer but thought I'd report it in case anyone else sees this as well.

You will likely see the site up and down over the next few hours. We're aware of this.
