i wasn't here for the initial draft, but when i joined for the '51 season, KC had a VERY young team. off the top of my head the oldest guy on his major league team was about 22, and most of them were younger. i assume he must have had his setting really, really heavy towards youth for the initial draft. he kept his roster pretty much intact while they developed- he hasn't made many trades- except for adding draft picks. and with such a young team he had a fair number of pretty high picks early on. that's why a large number of his players are within 3 or 4 years of each other. lately he's been drafting higher, but seems to have a knack for finding good young prospects late in the 1st. most of the guys drafting at the top like to draft for immediate impact, which sometimes leaves the promising kids (who need lots of CP time lower teams don't always have) for the teams drafting later. detroit seems to have a knack for this as well. his having good prospects in the minors is nothing that fishy, just good drafting on his part. also, the latest draft was incredibly deep, so there's a few teams that have a surplus of good young talent. brooklyn for instance.March 31, 2006 at 05:28AM View BBCode
Speaking of Brooklyn, has he left us? I don't think he's been active for a while now. To bad his team has some potential if he's willing to stick it outPages: 1
