Mentoring on WaiverWire

February 10, 2006 at 11:45PM View BBCode

I added a column for Mentoring on the waiver wire page. You can't sort by it. I'm not sure if I'll leave that there - the page *seems* painfully slower than before. We'll see how it works out when we move it to the main site in March.

It is only displayed for Private and Dynasty leagues.

This doesn't look like its going to work. The page is way too slow. I'll probably remove this feature and try to think of another way to do it for the future.

You are viewing the raw post code; this allows you to copy a message with BBCode formatting intact.
I think that just having Leadership there is fine. It's pretty easy to narrow it down to the players who are 28+ years old, C+/B- Overall, and have A Leadership. Mostly, that's going to be the only place you'd even care about Mentoring on the Waiver Wire. Anyone who is better than average at mentoring is going to stick out like a sore thumb and be obviously identifiable.

We've had about 19 people request this feature though :)

I'll either have to store the mentoring grade in the database, I'm not sure how I could do this though. Because a guy could have different mentoring scores throughout the season as his age and skills change. I suppose I could change mentoring so that a guy's mentoring rating was frozen each season.

The other option is to create another waiver wire page or view with mentoring on it. That way if you're looking for mentors, you can spend the 45-60 seconds and load that page up.

being in the business, sometimes things just aren't possible.

Until leadership is either eliminated or changed, it will suffice on the waiver wire for now.
