Fireman Of The Year

I can't believe Brook Underwood lost the Fireman of the Year award for 1955. :(
Underwood had 776 votes to Charlie Livingston's 790 (Phil Ramblers).
Underwood had 47 saves in 52 games, with a 0.87 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP.
Livingston had 52 saves in 75 games, with a 3.46 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP.
Congratulations to the Ramblers and to Livingston for a well faught battle. Maybe next year will be The Kid's year.

Livingston had a great year. but a horrible final month. His ERA was under 2 most of the year (granted not as good as Underwood's final numbers), but had a couple of outings in Sept. where he gave up 5 runs in 1/3 IP.
Given Underwood's ratings, I'm sure he'll get his opportunities for the award in the coming seasons!!

The awards "voting" favors more innings, more strikeouts, more wins, more hits, more RBI and not efficiency. I would still take either of those guys.
