#1 Draft Pick

It has been learned through some of his family members that Syd Martz would greatly prefer to become a Bomber rather than join the Champs' squad. As a result of a trade with the NY Pies, where Dave Ortiz (now with Baltimore) left the Bombers in exchange for the Pies' first-round draft pick, NY Bombers could potentially select first in this year's draft. However, St. Louis traded their first-rounder to the Chicago Champs and, since St. Louis and NY Pies currently have identical records, it has not yet been decided whether NY Bombers or Chicago will be selecting first.
Supposedly, Syd prefers NY because Chicago already has a deep and young pitching rotation. Chicago, however, would not pass up on Syd if they end up with the first pick because there is such a big drop off in talent from the #1 to the #2 pick. Today's final games will decide the fate of Syd and his two potential suitors. The NY Pies end the season with two games at Boston (the number two AL team) and St. Louis completes its season at Cinncinnati (#5 NL team). A win by either NY Pies or St. Louis will likely seal the deal and determine who chooses first in this years draft.

Should be interesting the way this plays out. I've been eyeing that #1 spot for awhile. I will continue to keep my fingers crossed.
Go Pizza Pies..............:D

Well, I'm happy with the outcome.
Sorry, dbowman.

dbowman, if you want Syd, we may be able to work out a deal...Hubbard and your first-round St.Louis pick. And if you really want to make sure it happens, you could sweeten the deal by throwing in a 2nd round pick.
