Even as a Notre Dame hater, I can't see how you leave ND off that list.

Of course everyone is going to say that this belongs and that belongs. But in the eyes of one website at least, we are kings.

Classy...

I really don't get in with college ball much, but I did go to a game at Florida State a few years back, and the crowd was just INSANE. It was awe-inspiring how attuned to the game the fans were, it made me feel like an outcast and charlatan for being there and not really caring about the game either way...

When you go to a baseball game, you can be indifferent, unaffected and above it all. The game is leisurely, so it's just nice to be in the park, take in the atmosphere, have a couple of hot dogs and a beer and watch. With college football, don't bother going unless you plan to live or die based on the outcome of the game. It's like a rock concert - if you don't care, you shouldn't be there. But if you do care, it can be transcendent in a way that no other sport really can be.

I prefer the ebb and flow of a baseball game live over any other live experience in sports, to be honest. There is something inherently peaceful and right about seeing a ball game with a close circle of friends. Going to an NBA game is impossible, the indoor fireworks and strobe lights make it impossible to enjoy, I hate how every moment at an NBA game has to come package with as much noise and monitors admonishing you to CHEER for your team, can't we just enjoy the game on it's own merits??

Well of course, you're a Cubs fan. The closest thing you have to college football is Northwestern.

There is nothing in sports that allows the crowd to have a tangible effect on the game like at a big-time college football game. There are no canned handclap sound effects or "make some noise!" notices on the scoreboard - you don't need any. It's like the real-world equivalent of the 2 Minutes of Hate and let me tell you, it's liberating. Especially when it comes with a smoked turkey leg.

I never liked the transitory nature of college ball, I like to make a bond with my home-team guys, and that is lost with the college game. But it is stirring to hear a thunderous din like the one at a college football game, nothing like it at all, it removes everything else in the world and encapsulates you in that one, perfectly realized moment...

When playing the Cornhuskers in Lincoln Nebraska you are lucky to come away with a win. Even in with Nebraska football being in poor shape these days you will still find the staduim packed and a win hard to come by

I'm surprised the Rose Bowl and The Big House didn't make the list.

On the other hand, one could argue that a college team will be together longer than a pro team. College players (in football at least) tend to play for four seasons. Take the Cubs as a counterpoint. On the current Cubs roster, only Kerry Wood was on the roster in 2001 meaning that everyone else would be within the perameters of a college team. The idea that pros stay with their team longer than college players isn't generally as true although most teams will have one or two players who are with the franchise longer.

Uh, I can't believe I am saying this, but I completely agree with FG. There is absolutely nothing like being at a big time college football game. One of my goals in life is to take a trip or two around the country and try to catch a game at nearly everyone of those stadiums listed and then some(The Big House, Notre Dame(even though I can't stand them I want to see TD Jesus), Georgia, Tennessee and Boise(gotta check out that turf). I don't really care to see a game at Ohio St., Wisconsin or Florida St.
