I don't know who the best is, but I certainly know the worst:
GAYlord Perry. So Lord of Gay. So gay.

Walter Johnson?
Cy Young?
Sandy Koufax?
Hell, Greg Maddux and Roger Clemens...
Then, maybe then, we get to Nolan Ryan...

Sandy Koufax is one of the most overrated players of all time, and like Nolan Ryan, does not belong anywhere near the top 10.

Spahn? Clemens?
Would have been nice to see Satch pitch in the MLB while in his prime.

You've got to be kidding with Nolan Ryan.
I'll admit that I generally hate all things New York and have a general bias thinking that most things that come from New York are overrated. Plus I started to get interested in baseball about 1977 which also colored my view. Of the pitchers I'ce looked at, and I'll admit I haven't yet gotten to Walter Johnson, Cy Young or Christie Mathewson, Tom Seaver is the best around. Its hard for me to give props to a Met but lets be honest here. For Tom's first part of his career with the Mets 1967-1977, the club was under .400 in games that Tom didn't get the decision in. With Seaver, they won a World Series and went to another. Their winning percentage over the 11 year span would have put them last or second to last every season. With Seaver they were contendors 8 of the 11 seasons. Keep in mind this is a club that also had Koosman, Ryan and Matlack pitching for them and none of them were even close to Seaver. To me, the difference Seaver made during that stretch between being a pathetically losing club (which I'd really like the Mets to always be) and being a World Champion once, runner up another time and finish in the top three 8 out of 11 seasons makes him the greatest ever (pending my analysis of the aformentioned early stars).

Seaver was good, but get out. Furious is right; Lefty Grove is the best starting pitcher ever.

Lefty Grove, Walter Johnson, and Christy Mathewson. Cy Young is a bit overrated because he got his 511 wins in an era when pitchers would routinely pitch a whole game, and he also leads in career losses.

Lefty Grove, Walter Johnson, and Christy Mathewson These 3 all had amazing stats and I think they would have to be considered among the best. However my vote goes to Clemens just for the simple fact I've never seen anyone better in my time. Pedro was unreal to watch for 4 season or so but he lost a little over the last couple of years and is not the dominator he once was.

Quite possibly the smartest thing you have ever said.
You know, Nolan could come out of retirement and add to his strikeout record which will never be broken and he could throw two more no hitters and the Ryan haters would still whine about his walks and how 10 other pitchers were better.

Robert Moses Grove.
And whoever said Sandy Koufax is overrated ought to lose their posting privileges.:puzzled::puzzled::puzzled:
Ryan is perhaps the most unique pitcher who ever took the mound. But the greatest? Not close. Who was better? A lot of guys. A lot of guys.
Grove, Mathewson, Walter Johnson, Spahn, Maddux, Clemens, Randy Johnson, Koufax, Gibson, Marichal, Carlton, Seaver....there's a dozen. And there might be that many more that I've missed.
Ryan was amazing to watch, but he was not the best ever.

Randy Johhson better than Ryan? No.
I could argue a few of the players you listed but for the most you are right on.
pssss.. I just like saying that Nolan is the greatest thus getting Furious riled up about his "walks" and "being too handsome for greatness"

Sandy Koufax pitched in an extreme pitchers park during the most pitcher-friendly era in baseball since 1920.
http://www.baseball-reference.com/k/koufasa01.shtml
He only had 6 years (1961-1966) when he was a star pitcher, the rest were as a league average pitcher. Pedro Martinez and Randy Johnson both had better peaks.
