Does it just jump to the championship, with the top two teams going head to head, or do the top four in each division make it? I am unfamiliar with the play-off format of the fifties, so if that is what it is based on, I could use a description on that format as well. Thanks.

The playoffs are run on a single day. The games are run in batches, 2-3-2.

The top team from each league (American and National) will play in the world series. If there is a tie between two teams in a league, they will play in a one game playoff to determine the league champion.The playoffs are run on a single day. The games are run in batches, 2-3-2.
