Trade Offers auto Decline

December 25, 2004 at 04:22PM View BBCode

I think some owners are on auto decline, they probably feel like if someone is making me an offer they must be trying to get the best of me. And this is probably true alot.
I accidentally made an offer to one owner where he would have got my second rd pick next year and 2 other picks (a 2rd and a fifth) for his second rd pick. IT was declined the catch was he woulda moved up in the 2nd rd not back.
So evaluate offers before declining.

I didn't know there was an "auto decline", I do know that the Possum Nation makes a persistant effort to gain my first round pick which will probably never happen for a couple guys I don't want or need and a fist-full of near useless draft picks. I say "near useless" because it's hard enough to obtain a quality player with a mid-first rounder the way our drafts have been looking so a 2nd and a couple 3rd's hold little or no value to me as they will amount to nothing more than some guy I'll cut from my roster anyway. I traded my first round pick once for Drew Lukon who was worthy of a 1st rd pick, he was playing a position I needed filled at the time and thankfully has brought some of what my team lacks in the power department.

I don't blame you for not trading away your pick and Lukon was worthy of the trade I guess I'll have to wait on some new blood to get extra first rounders lol.

I just feel that some of the teams have been burned so many times they don't even evaluate the deal.

i'm in three leagues, and in each league there are guys that trade all the time, guys that don't trade at all, but most fall in between.
personally, even though i don't make or propose a lot of trades, i do evealuate every one that i am offered. i also don't take offense when my proposal is declined. i have my game plan (short + long term) and i try to stick to it.

The only offers I get are, get slickered, get screwed, and highway robbery. Please don't come to me looking for my low draft picks and offer all kinds of crazy junk. It ain't happenin'. Not today, not tomorrow! You want low draft picks from me, expect to pay or don't bother.

Right Fab, and the trade that makes me chuckle the most is when someone offers 3 bad players and a 4th or 5th round pick for a stud.

Well. for me initially, (and pretty much still so), is that i was unable to determine players future value, whether some draft picks actually ever become players, etc. There are a lot of players, that are 2nd tier players in my eyes, that are crap to others. I have found to this point, which it took me a long time to realize, is there are a few players that are good now, a few players that will be good in the future, and then a bunch of scrubs. You have to decide if you want all 30 something studs, or all 26-under potential studs. Everyone else is useless. I didn't realize that until maybe midway through this season. Guys that are almost good at 27 are worthless. So if i made any of those offers in my tenure, that is why. I probably thought players were more valuable than they are.
