I have added a second league to compete in... as you know, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to this game. Anyway, here's the offer:
Offers Received:
Accept/Decline Action Player From To Comments
Accept Decline Trade William Bennett Boston Bucks Cleveland Bombers
Acquire Tom McGuire Cleveland Bombers Boston Bucks
Acquire Art Tanaka Cleveland Bombers Boston Bucks
Acquire Draft Pick 1957 Rd: 1 (CLE) Cleveland Bombers Boston Bucks
I'm Boston in the #14 Earl Averill League.
Is this a good trade for my team or not and why?
Thanks!

Post the links to the players, then we can sorta judge the trade.

I don't see any good reason for accepting this trade. But, let me get this straight. He wants your first round pick for a 28-yo 2B and a 23-yo RP "prospect".
Looking at Tanaka's numbers and ratings, I don't even think you could find a spot for him to play every day in your lineup. Your middle infield looks solid and is very young. You need to keep giving those kids their AB's. Tanaka doesn't have any power. Looking at his OPS, he probably wouldn't be a starter on most teams in the league. He certainly isn't playing much for the Bombers now that he has that Neun kid at 2B with A health. The one slight advantage I can see to Tanaka is his defense. But, most people will take a bat over defense any day. You could spend much less and get a kid with some range and an arm for a defensive sub, if that's your preference. But, I would just say he'd take some AB's away from your kids in the late innings as a replacement, if nothing else.
McGuire hasn't been coaching since '54. But, he's a true 23-yo. He'd need to get a bunch of innings this season to turn out decent by the time he's 25 or 26, but it wouldn't help the depth of your pen by bringing him into games. He's just not good enough. A guy like this won't improve your staff, as far as I can see. You have some decent starters in the minors who might as well take an RP spot if they needed to. Keep some CP's on Makeet and he'll be good to go in a couple seasons, which will fill the role of one of your older guys who will inevitably be on the verge of retirement.
If you're looking to trade a first round pick, I don't think this is the way to go by any means. He's giving you two of his scrubs and asking for the world. With all the youngsters you have on your squad in the field, I would be looking to draft another youngster to go with those other guys in the next draft. Or try to trade for a catcher. That's one of your weak spots on the roster for sure. You're playing Christopher Will there right now. He'll never convert to a catcher at his age, so that's a hole you need to look at filling sometime soon. If it were me, I'd pick a guy like Jerry Southern, or Donn Knickey and package it with a fairly high draft pick (not necessarily a first rounder, but maybe a 2nd) and go after someone who has an extra younger catcher. The reason I picked those two guys out of the bunch is they have fairly high overall ratings, but I don't think their stats will match up to their ratings. Their power isn't where it needs to be. I would definitely think you could get .700 OPS out of any of the other guys on your squad who can play those positions. But, they are probably very attractive players to many owners in the league.
The other thing you're doing by declining his trade offer is forcing him to deal with his own draft picks in the next draft. His squad is aging. But, I'm guessing he's probably doing very well in the standings. This particular offer would help him get rid of a couple guys he's not using and make his team younger next season with the good draft pick you'd be giving him, plus his own first rounder. It's trades like this that keep the leaders on top of the standings and leave the rest wondering why they can't ever get to that level.
Those are just my first thoughts in looking at your squad and the offer you rec'd. Hopefully you'll get some other people to chime in with their impressions.
Good luck.
