Predictions for the upcoming season

September 13, 2004 at 05:21PM View BBCode

I know the draft hasn't taken place yet, and the two new teams are yet to shape up. However, what are the predictions of the other owners for both the AL and NL?

I predict any prediction made will inevitably be wrong, except maybe the one about Calhoun winning the Cy Young

In the NL, it's hard to see anybody overtaking the Lobos and Esquires.

In the AL, it's looks like a seven team race (sorry, Chicago Caretakers).

One team in the NL which will give the Lobos and Esquires a tough time will be the Clippers. They acquired some good pitching at the end of last season and they have the best offense in the NL.

In the AL, how can you go against Detroit and Washington? They've been in the playoffs every year. Maybe it's Cleveland's turn.

I think my team is stronger hitting, but a little weaker in pitching than in the past. I'm breaking in a lot of young arms right now. Washington can hit well enough to win. Cleveland is right there and I think they will end the Detroit-Washington monopoly in the playoffs. The Rain is showing improvement and Baltimore and Boston could both make a run. But when all is said and done, I believe it will come down to a race between Detroit, Washington, and Cleveland. Maybe with a surprise team thrown in.

National league, probably St. Louis and the Lobos again.

I don't think any team is dominate in the AL, trading could make a HUGE difference this year. Last year Cleveland busted out, someone else could this year, especially if Baltimore gets some pitching. Pure managing talent could definitely make a difference, more so than in other years because there are no easy series, even Chicago is MUCH better this year. I think its way too early to say anything intelligible about the outcome of the season but hey, it might be a good time to stock up on umbrellas, never know when its gonna rain. :spin:

The Bastards will continue to suck.

The Senators would give players so the Bastards wouldn't suck. And what would the Senators want in return? Only Skipper Fyhrie.

The team I perpetually fear, and continue to disappoint, is the Baltimore Potomacs. They *should* have a pennant.

you should probably consider the great art of the deal, there is quite alot of older talent on your team, you could get some good prospects. Think like the Brewers:saint:

All of the deals that have been proposed to me are for young guys (Fyhrie, Armbrust, Rosario) with the exception of Charlie Clark, who is only 30. I gave up a #1 for Clark.

Agreed Milwaukee and St. Louis are strong teams, but they can be beaten. I am shocked nobody mentioned the ol Pittsburgh Captains in their predictions.

Pittsburgh where do you see yourself? Will you beat St. Louis or the Lobos? Make a prediction. Also, I don't think anyone else has a standing bet with Dynasty Dollars. I have $20 on each game. I think we'll end up pretty much like last year.

I have a prediction. Pittsburgh will end up in 4th place.

I covet their young pitchers, though. Bonness, Repass, Jeanes and Brown are going to make a killer rotation in four years.

I think i have a chance at possibly the wild card

With a solid rotation, decent bullpen, and hitters who smash that ball, you would be a real threat in the AL. In the NL, I'd bet on third place.

Not that I'm not rooting for you. I'd love to see St. Louis and Milwaukee be upset by some of the upstarts in the NL.

I'll say I get to the wildcard provided I do not have any injuries.

Who do you beat out? Me or the Lobos?

Let me ask again, does anyone have Dynasty Dollars bet? Let's put some money where our mouths are.

I bet that I am far less arrogant about my championship and major power team than you are about yours, calling out people to bet when you know damn well you have the better team may seem like the thing to do right now but someday all good things come to an end (like for instance your pitching gods WILL retire) and I think you are just inviting people to roll around in your inevitable bad fortune when it comes- a little bit of humble now can go along way. I suppose one can assume that their team will NEVER decline but I am willing to take bets on that to.

I will bet 20 dynasty dollars on any game. Bring it on Esquires!

Just trying to stir the pot. The Pirates said they were going to win the wildcard--I want to know who they thought they would beat. Sorry for asking--wasn't that the title of this forum? Predictions. I wasn't trying to gloat. I have always trumpeted the Pirates (Captains) as a dynasty in the making and was just trying to see some chatter. I recognized in my post to the Red Wolves that I won my title by the slimmest of margins against a great Red Wolves team and further I believe I have generally been gracious (except to the Lobos) in victory and defeat. You are the last guy I would have thought would call a player on the carpet for having some blood in his veins. I do not believe I am a far superior team to the Pirates (thanks for your vote of confidence, though) and our season series last year was probably in my favor but not by an overwhelming margin (and the Captains know it). If we are too limp wristed to talk some trash, if that's what my posts were, then this league will do better without the Esquires. We complain when there aren't enough posts and then complain when it gets a little hot in the kitchen. Sheesh.

isn't the World Series banner monumentally cool, I want more of those! I just thought the betting thing was a little much but I assure you I ain't dum enuff to bet against you. If I can find another starter for the Rain we really are gonna make some peoples dreams all wet. :D

I guess the Lobos are going to knock the Esquires of their high horse.

I feel like gloating right now. Not only do I think the Lobos will win the NL by 10 games, I believe the Lobos will have the best record in the league by 10 games. We clearly are the greatest team ever assembled. I finally got the leadoff hitter I need and there is nothing stopping me. Bring it on St. Louis, bring it on Pittsburgh, bring it on Chicago, bring it on Detroit, bring it on Cleveland, bring it on Washington. We'll be bringing our brooms to your parks.
