Idea I would like support for.

It does not apply to this league right now because we are all active in some way. BUT, I think this is the best place to discuss this idea because we are active.

When leagues have dead teams and have no owners for several seasons, they tend to gain high draft picks and those players go immediately to the bench.

As we know, young players rise in value and eventually these dead teams go over the salary cap.

Next, when the cut to 53 players is implemented, these teams over the cap waive their bench players and possibly more till the cap is met. The result is the best young players are put on the wire and the aging and often lesser players are left on the team and sit there till retirement.

Admin already has a way to id inactive teams because he sends out notices when a team is inactive so my idea is quite doable code wise.

I would like to see: inactive teams have the salary cap and/or roster limits removed. Once a new owner takes over, the teams goes immediately back to cap and roster limits before the start of the next regular season game.

Leagues would be able to resell these dead teams much easier if the best players from dead teams are not circulated on the waiver wire to just make the leagues more top heavy.

I am not looking for credit. IF you guys like the idea we could submit the idea as a league or give the commish the credit.

I think this is a great idea.
Not too realistic to have certain players on the waiver wire.

Interesting concept.
On one hand, dead teams would retain all those players who were high draft picks by neglect, although, in a garbage league like the Vince Lombardi league with a ridiculous amount of dead teams who haven't been involved forever, there's a good chance that those top players will spend their entire career on the inactive list right to retirement.
On the other hand, active teams that don't mind taking advantage of nailing a top-notch freebie from the waiver wire, might hate to lose that.

How about this?:
Teams that have been inactive for one season or more, immediately go to the bottom of the draft order- the longest inactive one gets buried in the 16th draft position until a new active owner is found, and the next longest gets 15th, and so on.
That way, the active owners actually get to fight it out for the prime beef on draft day, instead the corpses getting first crack by default.
In addition, the top picks don't rot away for their entire careers on the inactive list.
The owners who have remained active don't get screwed from waiting around for imaginary potential new owners of dead teams by getting an honest shot in the yearly draft.
The pay leagues should be for the benefit of those who keep up with it.
I.E.- A REAL bird in the hand- MAYBE two in the bush.

not against it, but it has to be some thing east to code and can be implemented in every league
