I just wanted to give a special mention to the career of Basil Banghart, who just retired. He's a member of the 3,000 Hit/500 Home Run Club, and is the all-time leader of several prominent offensive statistics. He had a truly marvelous career; he's an all-time great.
He will be missed (especially by Detroit).

Late in the year, I moved him to lead off so he'd get a few more at bats and hopefully, runs. It paid off as he ended up tied all time for runs scored. I really didn't think Abe would retire him -- I was hoping for one more year.
