League Merge

September 09, 2016 at 02:53AM View BBCode

After the league vote on the merger, the vote was 9-2 with one "no opinion" of the 12 human teams.

I understand that the merger process is not ideal, but this league has been going on longer than anyone with a quarter of the league run by bots. Thus, during this offseason, the league will merge with the Willie Davis League.

The merge will occur after the amateur draft but before the new season.

Would have been nice to be offered the chance to vote. I will play out what I'm paid for and then decide.

ok one of the things we have do with the leagues is resolve which of the following teams will move. ABE can have only team in each league city. In the AL we have conflicts in Boston, Washington, Minnesota, and Chicago. and the NL only Philadelphia. I know wheels has been in Philadelphia for a long time in the Simmons. And Pogo has had Chicago AL in the Simmons for quite some time. The available teams off the top of my head are AL Cleveland, Oakland, California, LA AL, Texas and Tampa Bay. NL Brooklyn, Atlanta, Miami, Florida, SF, SD and Houston.

What if the owners that are transferred into the other new merged league decide they don't want to do the 24 team league??? then ur going to run into the same problem more bots?? I have a team in the 24 team league I don't like it may leave it all together...

We do have some city conflicts among the merging teams. The owner who has had the team for the most seasons gets to keep his city, the other owner must relocate:

My official conflict list:

BOS - Nestor keeps the Britons in BOS, Racepicks of the ASL must pick a new city
MIN - captscottha keeps the Howling Robots in MIN, robbie_d_11_05 of the ASL must pick a new city.
CHA - pogomogo10 keeps the Skyrockets in CHA, Minions of the WDL must pick a new city.
WAS - mmm6862 keeps the Watergates in WAS, vickiroepke of the WDL must pick a new city
PHI - WHEELSRUGS keeps the IRISH in PHI, 1950sroot of the WDL must pick a new city.

Amen. The 24 team league thing would only make sense if the draft can get revamped. The draft needs to be overhauled to where there are much more quality players than there are today. As it is today, if you don't have at least a 6th or 7th overall pick, then you get nothing.

Come on. Going to 24 team league just makes winning THAT much harder.

The drafts kind of suck in general. My other team has the #3 pick in the draft, and my top 3 are all people who will require 5 CP's for at least 4-5 years to make them good.

That being said, the 24 team leagues that I've seen don't really have worse drafts than the 16 team leagues. There's 150 players to draft, there's about the same quality level spread out between the players. There's just a bit more to sort through.

Willie Davis owner here

September 10, 2016 at 07:24PM View BBCode

I've been with the Willie Davis League, my first league, since it started in the 1950 season, so I understand all the angst at losing league history, but let's face it, playing in a league with four bots in the case of the Davis League doesn't work. Can't trade with those teams, no interaction. It sucks. I get the history part of it, but let's all just give the new league a try and see how it works. We are all free to go when it doesn't. I just don't see the objection to making a better league. I'm in a 9-game-a-day, 24-team league. The drafts are sometimes not good, some times fairly deep. Just give the new league a chance.

You know what I don't care if Lawman, Klewis and Pogomogo10 leave the league. I am not the bad guy here, I am not a bully and I will take that heat because three guys want to play in a 16 team league that no longer is viable. The Davis league was receptive to playing with humans and having real pennant races. I will never understand why people hate the bots but want to play with them hoping that someone will buy one. Especially when said bots have been the norm for more than four seasons. I'm 50 years old I won't play High school drama games or Middle age ones for that matter. Good luck if must take your bat and ball and play at the playground down the street.

Having a preference and expressing it doesn't qualify as drama. Making a decision to stay or leave, based on the expressed preference is not drama. Intolerance and criticism of others because of their stated preferences is, without a doubt, immature...... and that is where the drama begins.....

Would you be interested in Merging with Al Simmons league?

http://www.simdynasty.com/standings.jsp?teamid=38533

They have the same 2 AL and NL teams missing so the 6 and 6 woul d be seamless. We have gone three seasons with no takers I would like to play against humans every game. Let us know if you would like to have a 24 team league.

Michael you posted this back in July later on in that post there was 1 person said they would like to get the bots out but wanted to wait(so not as receptive as you stated earlier)

Not happy about losing Boston after 47 seasons but I do realize that fair is fair, Nestor has owned the name longer, so I also will take whatever is available also. My immediate question is this, with the prospect of Pogo, Lawman, and Klewis leaving. With the possibility of a few more of us leaving if we do not like the 24 team league model, won't this just create a larger bot problem in the very near future? Instead of the rush to go 24, I would have liked to explore the possibility of the 12 team model further. After it was mentioned by WHEELS, I did not hear that 12 team league was impossible, just not fully tested. It just seems to me that expansion will just compound the problem of bots.

Yeah and i have had the Skyrockets for around 50 years. I suggested to Admin to take 4 dynasty teams and just move the owners from 1 dynasty to the other 3 leagues just the owners.. Essentially that is what he is doing for me(or he said he could). For me it would have been ideal for him to look at 4 dynasty leagues look at the newest one and take those owner and just dispense them into a league where people have been there the longest??? yeah and so 3-4 of us are looking at staying in the dynasty(16 team) leagues from ASL I think several of the WDL are thinking the same thing so yeah you might end up with a 24 team league and only 16-18 owners?? HHHMMMM?? thanks Michael

If you're really committed to 16 team leagues, then I suggest you buy teams in 16 team league.

Looks like there's a ton available, and I think the Jimmy Wynn and Larry Doby leagues would be happy to have you. My other league, Johnny Bench, has one available as well...that league is generally fairly stable, so if you want to take over something long term, the Miami Gators wouldn't be a terrible option.

League Inflation and player contraction for whatever reason is the killer of the site not just the Al Simmons. Look at the speed league for sale board. Ridiculousness there. At least Dynasty leagues don't have to stop when openings happen. Also if the Davis Simmons or Simmons Davis league falls to 16 teams That is not a problem because Chris can just lop those teams off and have a 16 team league full of humans. Like Blackmet said there are still plenty of 16 team leagues looking for owners. Good luck to all if you don't merge.
