March 21, 2016 at 03:50PM View BBCode

Alright, it's time to move on to the 2011 HOF nominations. Voting will be open until about the All-Star break. Please vote now so you don't forget. Thanks, C

Returning to the Ballot...

[url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9441273]Olaf Waller[/url] - NYY - SP
16.2 Years Service
253-183 W-L - 23rd All Time
3.58 ERA
1.25 WHIP
3,323 Ks - 8th All Time
108 CG - 15th All Time
26 SHO - 32nd All Time
.668 Opp OPS
*4024.1 IP - 13th All Time
1 All Star Start
5 All Star Reserves
2 WS Rings (8.2 postseason K/9)

Waller has great numbers as well and the only reason he never grabbed a Cy was due to the higher level of starting pitching in the AL at the time.

[url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9171980]Bazooka Bladt[/url] - CHC - C
17.1 Years Service
.280 AVG
256 HRs
1224 RBIs
315 SBs (65.2%)
2674 Hits
1458 Runs
*445 Doubles - 48th All Time
.780 OPS
32.6% CS
1 Gold Glove
3 All Star Starts
5 All Star Reserves
ROY
.348 postseason AVG (67 AB)

Bladt hit a decent amount of homers, but was known as a doubles machine. Along with Fonseca, he was one of the top two catchers in the NL for a long stretch.

Class 2011 Nominees...

[url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9441299]Duncan Ellis[/url] - CHC - SS
16.4 Years Service
.273 AVG
282 HRs
1342 RBIs
311 SBs (68.8%)
2651 Hits
1395 Runs
*457 Doubles - 38th All Time
.767 OPS
3 All Star Starts
4 All Star Reserves
1 Gold Glove
Led League in Runs (1)
Led League in OBP (1)
.329 postseason AVG (73 AB)

Ellis was a very good offensive player at a defensive first position. If he was anything, it was a modicum of consistency for a long stretch.

[url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9441312]Brent Brandon[/url] - MON - SP
15.7 Years Service
209-139 W-L
3.54 ERA
1.28 WHIP
2,586 Ks
36 CG
11 SHO
.687 Opp OPS
1 All Star Start
3 All Star Reserves
11 K in 12.1 postseason innings

Always known as a great leader and teammate, Brandon was one of the top starters in the early 2000s. He didn?t earn a full-time job until he was 24 and was handled with kid gloves a bit, which limited his career innings.

[url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9556543]Jimmie Hanski[/url] - KC - SP
13.6 Years Service
236-90 W-L
3.06 ERA
1.14 WHIP
2,307 Ks
76 CG
33 SHO
.634 Opp OPS
ROY
1 Cy Young
2 All Star Start
5 All Star Reserves
Led League in SHO (1)
3 WS Rings (8 postseason wins)

Like Brandon, Hanski wasn?t a full-time starter until his age 24 season. Yet for 12 straight seasons he put up no less than 229 innings, 16 wins or 164 K in any given season. He also never had an ERA above 4.00 during his time as a starter.

[url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9556528]Fred Hogue[/url] - TOR - RP
15.2 Years Service
102-73 W-L
3.02 ERA
1.22 WHIP
973 Ks
245 SV
.637 Opp OPS
8 All Star Reserves
Led League in Games Pitched (3)
4 WS Rings (8 postseason saves)

The numbers may not look hall of fame worthy on first glance, but Hogue was one of the top bullpen arms for well over a decade. His peripherals are quite strong, but to his detriment he was not always deployed as a closer.

Some tough choices, this year. I feel like you could make a strong argument either way on almost all of these guys.
