Pulling out SP on a high note

February 22, 2016 at 12:46PM View BBCode

I'm tweakening my preferences accordingly but still, oh so often I have an at bat wasted in the 6/7/8th inning with the pitcher batting only so for he to give up a base hit in the next frame and get pulled out anyway.

isn't there a setting where the pitcher will be pulled out before he starts to bleed?

Under 'Manager Preferences", go to "pitchers" and you can tweak the "pitcher's stamina" - If a SP is tired and comes to bat, he should be pinch hit for_________(choose automatically)
When he is batting, consider a SP tired if he will become tired after facing the next ______batters(put in whatever number you want). Also, you can tweak the "PH pitcher for offense"and adjust the inning you want to PH for your pitcher. This is in the advanced mode, of course. Not sure what the regular mode is set to.

thanks.

I have "he will become tired after facing the next 0 batters" and "he should be pinch hit for if he has given up 3 ER" which is pretty liberal for pinch hitting right?

but still it happens that the SP bats when he wasn't supposed to, then gets pulled out shortly after. it just happened in my next-to-last game: http://simdynasty.com/boxscore.jsp?boxscoreid=297643&cityid=26 - SP leads off the 7th, gets pulled out in the next frame. okay, this example is not exactly what I'm talking about - the SP faced 3 more batters after his at bat.

guess I'm asking for too much. or there could be an "Add rule" option just like under 'defense' in the "Manager Preferences";

"Pull out SP if he will lead off the ___ inning";
"Pull out SP if he will bat with RISP after the ___ inning";
"Pull out SP if he will bat with 2 outs after the ___ inning;
"Pull out SP if he has completed a quality start";

and it would be so cool if you could do...

"Pull out SP if his endurance rating is lower than ___ and he has (completed a quality start/given up ___ ER through ___ IP)";

"Pull out SP if his ERA is higher than __/his endurance rating is lower than __ and he has completed ___ IP"

for "When he is batting, consider a SP tired if he will become tired after facing the next _____ batters," if you want your SP to be pinch hit for more often, you should put a higher number in there instead of 0. 0 means that he will be pinch-hit for only if he is tired at that moment, while if you put , say 5 in there, there is a greater chance of him being tired after theoretically facing 5 more batters and ABE will consider him tired more often.

what he said. you can also set it to "0 ER", which will yank him as soon as he hits the 'future tired' threshold, no matter how his game has gone to that point, since that seems to be what you want.

honestly, there's no reason to do that at all. his END and ERA are irrelevant. all that matters are his fatigue level and his skills. nothing else matters. so creating pull/leave rules based on that would be counter-productive.

thank you very much! looking at that now, I don't know what I was thinking.

that should cover a lot of what I'm asking for. I'll start with the 5.

yeah I didn't put much thought into it.

otoh when I have a mid level SP barely pulling off a quality start or something I would love to be able to say "okay, I'm satisfied with your work today, you're relieved of your duties, go sit in the bench before you blow up the game like you're bound to";
