Welp. So much for that wild card round. The two division champs won by a combined score of 82-13 (34 and 35 point margins).
Kansas City @ Saskatchewan: 10-45
This one was all Saskatchewan from the very beginning. The Stallions set a season-high in points, but they dominated in every phase of the game. Star QB William Banks was 24/33 for 295 yards and 5 TDs with no picks and no sacks. The run game centered around 3rd year back Mike Joe, who had his second highest rushing total of the year (134 yards with a TD). The Stallions defense held Kansas City to 114 total yards on 56 plays (2.0 yards/play) and forced 3 turnovers. Their only touchdown came on a drive that had 39 yards of SAS penalties (8 penalties for 84 yards on the day was ugly).
Game MVP: SAS WR John Chatman
11 receptions for 104 yards with 4 TDs and 5 first downs (yes, he is the 4th receiver on our roster)
Rochester @ Los Angeles: 3-37
The avalanche started early with a pick-6 just a couple of minutes in by the 13-year veteran Nate Sheehy for his first postseason pick. It didn't help matters that 10 minutes in, Rochester's starting RB went down with a concussion, but this defense was already smothering. Later in that same first quarter, star CB Joe Griffin nearly notched his second postseason TD after returning an interception 62 yards to the ROC 1, which was shortly converted into a touchdown by the offense. The defense by the Dream Factory was so dominant, it made the offense look pedestrian. Rochester's only score came after LA had to punt after muffing the second half kickoff at their own 3 yard line. In the end, LA recorded 6 interceptions to make it a real blowout (including another 97-yard pick-6 late in the 3rd quarter).
Game MVP: LAN CB Art Wright
1 interception returned 97 yards for a TD (that's an easy 14-point swing in the game that takes a game from 27-10 to 34-3)
Not sure two performances this dominant have ever happened in such different ways. Saskatchewan's offense was ultra-efficient, and LA's defense just knocked Rochester into the last century.
Good luck to all of the teams tomorrow!

It's okay. The only other teams to go 15-1 in the regular season were both winless in the playoffs. That streak has to break at some point...

Congrats to Florida and Buffalo on great wins! Frustrating loss for us, but ah well.
The top-ranked team has won in all 4 games so far this postseason. How about Florida versus Buffalo?

That's pretty cool. Congrats to Buffalo on a great season and especially to Florida, the first 17-win team in league history!
