All Star pitchers

November 02, 2015 at 04:35AM View BBCode

I know this is an old subject, but I just have to say something.

How does Juan Murray, at 20-6, 2.64, rank only 6th for All Star starting pitchers, while Ripp Borgmann, at 11-13, 3.15, makes the team at #4?

To top it off, Murray is leading in the Cy Young race.

Team place shouldn't factor in. It is innings pitched, K's, complete games, and shutouts.

It's the K's; no doubt about it. It would be a great irony if Murray ends up winning the CYA, but fails to make it as an All-Star sub.

Besides an all-star formula tweek, they need to change the All-star roster to allow for 6 or 7 starting pitchers , and only 3 or 4 relievers. Tired of seeing guys like Murray get passed over for relievers with a lot of saves, but with double digit blown saves, and an ERA over 4.

The issue of too many relievers on the All Star roster, and not enough starters is spot on, and the Duke Snider League is a perfect example.

With 153 games played, none of the Bucks starting pitchers are all stars; not Tommy Brown, who is 17-4 with a 3.10 E.R.A., nor Ben McCleskey, who is 16-6, 2.18, nor Juan Murray, now 22-6, 2.65.

However, the Bucks part-time starter (45 appearances, 17 GS) Colby Baird makes the all-star team as a reliever. Baird is 9-6, 3.83. To his credit, Baird has only blown 3 saves in his relief appearances. Then again, he's only saved 3 other games. Five other Bucks have more than three saves.

It really does need to be fixed.

Good news two games later; another Milwaukee Buck pitcher has joined Colby Baird on the All Star team!!

Is it Murray? Is it Brown? McCleskey? Nope, it's Will Moulder (10-4, 4.11, 6 saves, 12 blown saves).
