Strength Rating vs Bench

OK, this has bothered me for awhile. It appears that the Strength rating for a player does not completely tie into his bench press count. So which is more import, the rating or the bench count?
For Instance, in an upcoming draft the Strength ratings and bench levels are sporadic. I get that ratings are more position specific, but how is a B- rated Safety able to bench more than an A- Rated Offensive tackle?

well, overall grade is irrelevant to that calculation for one. second, the bench number involves more than just STR. i know chris has said what exactly somewhere so maybe someone else remembers more spefically what. off the top of my head i think it's STR and STAM. also, if you're running team training drills the results will change from week to week as fatigue affects the results.

This is something of interest to me. Many times I avoid DL and OL with high strength ratings but poor bench press. There are times they have an A for strength but can't bench even 20 times. Has anyone had success with these types? There are also lots of linemen with below A strength and can bench a ton. not sure how these guys perform during games.
