Player limit and waiver claims

January 06, 2015 at 09:32AM View BBCode

Hi,

in which cases can I have more than 50 players? I've seen this happen after a draft, but what happens if I get over 50 due to waiver claims?

I took over a former bot team (in horrible shape), and at the start of the new season there are a lot of players on the waiver wire that are better than the players on my roster. I made sure to claim only 5 optioned players, but I have claims on 15 or so players. And given the team performance last season there is a pretty good chance that I could get them all :-\\

Regards, F.

I dont know what your team looks like, but 50 players is too much to carry at any time. You only really need a good 15 in the minors. I would just drop a few you will never need until you get to 15. That should put you in good shape to get the players from the waiver wire.

It might be a system 4 league where you can develop 25 minor leaguers.

It is a system 4 minors league.
And you can obtain more than 50 players this way, I had 53 or so after the waiver claims.

You can have more than 25 players on the major league roster if you use the "resting" feature. There's a team in my league that has 29 players on their major league roster. 1 is injured and 3 are "resting". The team is in the championship series too, and it seems like it could be an unfair advantage because they could simply swap out tired players for fully rested players.

Other than starting pitchers nobody gets too tired to play in the playoffs due to the extra days off so there is no advantage to be gained from resting players .

As TR said, there's no real advantage to be gained even if you could do this...which you can't. Well, at least not in the middle a playoff series.

Okay--got it--the "rest" feature is only for September.

Essentially. You can still use it in October, but you can't un-rest a player in the middle of a series. You would have to wait until the day after the series would be over if it were to go 7 games. SO let's say you sweep the LCS, you would have to wait until the league date was 10-13 or 10-14 (whatever the date is for the day after the LCS would end if it went 7 games).
