STEAMERS SWEEP!

February 24, 2015 at 11:52PM View BBCode

Here we go again. The Steamers are picking it up and the Manatees are coming off two losses in Boston. Can the Manatees take the series? Will the AL be tied after tomorrow? Tune in and see!

Steamers take game 1!

The Steamers continued their resurgence and dominated the Manatees in game one of a three game set between the top teams in the AL.

Fernando Stump stumped the Manatees and Zoot Horn Rollo, coming off his recent 15 game winning streak, could not hold the power on display. Homers by Hooks Parent, GG LIddy, and Fred Ward all landed in The Marsh wetting the Manatees hold on first place which has dwindled to 2 games.

Next up Garth Hudson takes on spot starter Jim Singleton.

Game 2 could be a blow out, as I have Jim "Wild Thing" Sington on the hill in place of injured Howard Hunt.

If Sington can hold Washington to less than 2 touchdowns, I'll be happy.

Steamers take game 2!

The Steamers rolled over Garth Hudson and the reeling Manatees with a clutch performance by Jim "Wild Thing" Singleton holding the Manatees to a field goal and a safety, easily taking the 2nd of three 9-5 at SeaCow Grotto.

The Manatees who seem to have little fight in them did mount a comeback but it was too little too late as the Steamers move to within one game of the once dominant Seacows.

Hudson, who had shown some recent semblance of his all-star self, on this day was pounded early and often, notably by Virgilio Gonzales who found the Marsh over right field fence in the first inning. An obviously shaken Hudson was removed by ambulance with one out in the second when his feet exploded in frustration.

Up next, game 3 in what the Steamers hope will be a clean sweep!

STEAMERS SWEEP!

Steamers Ace Juan Jenkins put the point on the exclamation that the Steamers are the team to beat in the AL with a dominant finish to a dominant series that saw the Manatees lose their 4th straight. The Manatees 4 consecutive losses is the first time this season they have lost more than 2 consecutive.

Virgilio Gonzalez had only two hits in the series yet they were clutch hits producing 5 RBI. Missing their stellar starter Howard Hunt, the Steamers nonetheless produced fantastic results with their staff.

The Manatees clearly missed the clutch bat and glove of C Barry Allen, out for two more weeks with a dislocated mind. Pitching for the Manatees was not up to their usual dominance and Manager Flipper Waterhorse was at a loss to explain the slip instead gave a nod to the opposition, "well, you know they don't call them the Steamers for nothin'. They didn't just steam us, they also rolled us!"

The Manatees ownership was understandably disappointed and was considering a name change for the beleaguered team to the Waffling Manatees or the Playful Manatees as in this series they clearly lost their fight.

The AL is now tied as we head into the stretch run!

"the Steamers are the team to beat in the AL"

No, that's still the Seacows. In fact, I'll be shocked if you lose again.

(seeing your attempt to foist the Message Board Jinx on me, and raising you!)
